She plays with harmonization sometimes to give the feel of a key change without actually changing the key (often utilizing the major and minor scales of each respective key). I've been trying to write an essay about Sky Ferreira's MASOCHISM for like months now, and it's frustrating how — because the album is (mostly) unreleased — there's no bank of existing writing/reviews about it for me to learn what's happening on a technical/formal/musical level. I try to listen to podcasts that dissect music production and stuff, but it's just difficult for me to learn that kinda stuff unless I have someone I can ask questions. Anywho, TLDR: Your answer was helpful. I wish I could hangout with you and listen to Sky Ferreira and ask you for terms/language for describing the music.
