Apparently, Andrew Watt also confirms that Hold My Hand was the actual lead single of Mayhem but it was replaced by Die with a Smile due to HMH's poor performance, although they are regretting the decision after it unexpectedly smashed in iTunes.

That's why she's not my main fave anymore. After she sold herself with that Dead Aunt album when it was supposed to be a glam pop album. Björk, my main fave, would NEVER do this. Would never water down her album just to make it more successful, that's a true ARTIST full of ARTISTRY something Gaga was almost getting back again but gave in for the numbers.

This is MY fave Gaga:

I try to sell myself but I am really laughing
Because I just love the music, not the bling
Music, not the bling

:koons:

And so you know, as soon as the album is out on Apple Music, I deleting that bullshit track from the album and keeping it as the stand alone single it was intended to be before it was a huge hit. **** the charts, bless artistry. :ohwell:

I'm baffled you stanned for her in the first place, and with that attitude, probably should steer clear of being a fan of any pop star signed to a major label and only be a fan of indie artists. That's your choice, but I've never understood this type of absolutism. I also think calling her album the "dead aunt" album is disrespectful, and if one is to adapt a holier than thou thought process, why not go all in?

Prefacing this: none of it matters that much. Delete DWAS from the album if you aren't happy with it on there. Pretend it isn't included. That's fine.

Not that it bears any real significance, but it was evident that DWAS was not initially meant to be included on Mayhem. She announced it as something "while we wait" for LG7, and Disease was explicitly referred to as the *first* single from LG7. All these things add up to clearly show it wasn't meant to be on the album.

It would be nice if they didn't then try to argue against all this, and pretend that it was always meant to be included. It wasn't. It was a massive, unexpected hit, and they decided to include it to inflate the album's streaming numbers and manufacture the album's success.

It's a good business move. It would've been cooler for them to be explicit about this.

But they haven't been. Oh well! Ignore it if you don't want it on the album. Delete it from the streaming album, eject the CD before the track starts, whatever you wanna do :laughga:

But trying to push the narrative now that it always the plan when she so directly said otherwise and refered to Disease as the lead is an insult to the fans intelligence

Well if this thread has proved anything, it's that some of these fans' intelligence deserves to be insulted :poot:

MIght have something to do with this new narrative being totally different to the one Gaga herself spoke about regarding the song's origins when it came out, but I'm just guessing. Frankly, I don't know why she and her team care all that much to put this new spin on the song being included to begin with. It comes off insecure and disingenuous. Nobody cares about where the track came from beyond Twitter stans. There's nothing wrong with saying they added the song to the album because they saw how deeply it resonated with the public.

Honestly this. But its not the First time they overcomplicate things.

Its Also okay tò realise that the Song Is a nice finishing touch tò the album. But this lack of clearity Is Just gonna Burn her ass, cause the media Is already on It. And the more you persist, the more they dig for It. And then this thread, another bickering amongst the core fanbase. This fanbase needs mending. Its not as strong as It was, divided by taste from the different eras, etc. Another polemic topic, completely avoidable when we could Just enjoy abracadabra's sucess. Theres Always something tò complain... true, but don't make It so Easy Jesus. We could be all here drooling about how cute Andrew Is or how they feel about the project instead the article generates animosity. Im Sorry but i blame her and the team.

yeah I mean come on it's sad and hilarious atst that truth is denied like story rewritten. so she can make 300k or more cause of DWAS' TEAs on the opening US week and they capitalize money over any artistic endeavours but this day and age I guess nobody care for the purity of anything art included. I could not care less if she would have a lower debut. Since I follow her from the start I'm just interested in the music.

If she thought it was good, then its her album = her choice , which I respect but find in a way very not Gaga

if it was because of Interscope then I'm amazed an artist of Gaga's calibre is so bound to have to retracklist her work

Gaga has a lot of songs that are not initially meant for the album. E.g. Perfect Illusion, Sine From Above, Come to Mama or maybe Sour Candy. These songs were mostly written and produced by different artists and then given to Gaga. This happens all the time in music industry. I don't know what's there to get pissed about Die With A Smile. Bruno gave it to Interscope just like how Gaga got Sine From Above and Sour Candy. DWAS is a part of Mayhem just like how SFA and SC are a part of Chromatica.

I wonder what this fanbase have to say about Rihanna who never touched a song's lyrics or its production.

I genuinely wonder how a forum filled with threads discussing the chart performance of Gaga's last 3 singles and the potential performance of Mayhem can be so angry at a blatant sales move lol
