A Very Gaga Holida

It makes a bit more sense to me that Die With A Smile was simply a standalone single that ended up getting included on the album because of it’s massive success and not a bad thing at all, it’s marketing.

We have yet to listen to the rest of Mayhem and I’m pretty sure there’s going to be a lot of songs that sound nothing like Disease and Abracadabra. Just from the “Girlfriend” snippet and the Zombieboy from Disease music video, there seems to be some type of A Star Is Born / Die With A Smile type of stuff in there. I could be wrong and maybe understand once they’re all out.

No one here knows what the process was so if Die With A Smile was recorded during the Mayhem sessions , later released as a standalone because it started as Bruno’s and Gaga finished it and she didn’t think it fit the album, later decided to include it again etc. whatever the process was we still get this amazing song and collaboration on it.

And honestly I’ve been listening to Die With A Smile more now that it’s right after Disease and Abracadabra. Like it’s a nice way to end the album.

I agree with your statements but how the hell do Garden Of Eden or Zombieboy make you think we’re getting ASIB/DWAS style music :selena:

All the people that got mad at this are now defending her for putting the song on the album just 'cause it sold well :icant:

Guess I'm a hypocrite too 'cause I defended her sponsorship with Nurtec. At least it's 'cause we know she suffers from chronic pain so if something new worked for her I'm cool with her being a spokesperson for it.

But DWAS just demotes the last 3-4 minutes of Mayhem to a stream farm :toofunny:

OMG YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I posted here without checking on Wikipedia, thinking that the ones in charge of the album's page wouldn't allow it.

AT LONG LAST! :woohoo:

Now I've refreshed the page to find that they've taken it off again. It's crazy, the song was released before Disease, it's on the standard edition of the album, it's the lead single. What's so hard to figure out?! :grr:

Gaga sold herself again when included in the album. She shouldn't care or water down her artistic vision just because it made success. Put it as a japanese bonus track, whatever, but don't water down a dark album with a A Star Is Born'ed ballad. Musique is not the bling. :alsemanche:

Gaga's a big commercial pop star, not an indie artist like Ethel Cain. She's critiqued capitalism, but her attitude has always been best illustrated in the lyrics of The Fame, as in like, yeah, she see it's pitfalls, but she's going for it anyway, lol, which I argue is an it's own authenticity. It's kind of like when people get mad about like the environment and the damage Apple is doing to it, but yet, we tend to type these critiques on iphones and macbooks.

Wikipedia matters a lot in how people define things, it's ususally the final decider as to what's the truth or not about things like this. It's the first place I go to look up album tracklists and bonus tracks. When Wikipedia remains adamant that something is a certain way, it just remains that way. They flip flopped over whether TFM was an album or not and eventually called a re-issue even though most fans think it's her second album. That site has always been so incompetent over Gaga, I swear.

I don't know how Wikipedia works but it's so funny to me we have Wikipedia editors having an entry fight over this. It mirrors pretty well what's happening on this topic :billie:

Imo, just use the latest oficial source, in this case, Andrew, and even gaga herself said that DWAS was the missing piece of the album.

Which is not bad, right? I mean DWAS is Gaga’s (and Bruno’s) unintended masterpiece after all.

Competition is way harder nowadays unlike the previous years since everyone can access everybody else’s music via streaming apps. Hence having a streaming hit is very logical move, as she previously said it’s the hidden missing (smash hit :ally:) piece in Mayhem.

But what is Die With A Smile tho? Is it a standalone single? Not anymore - that’s not possible.

Is it the 0th single from Mayhem bc she said Disease was the first? That’s not possible.

It’s just the lead single, period, simply bc August comes before October - and that’s not a whack on how great Disease is.

Sweeties, every Gaga dance album but Chromatica has had a rock ballad. Why are you acting brand new?

Brown Eyes, Speechless, You and I, Dope. It SHOULD have been 1000 Doves on Chromatica, but whatever.

TBH it should have been fun tonight. That maroon 5 production is rotted lmao but it’s a really poignant song that would have been better as a ballad as it was obviously written
