Honestly? The way Chromatica was left to rot. She clearly just wasn’t in a super confident or comfortable place and that’s okay, but I still think from a commercial standpoint scrapping the era twice was obviously a questionable move. I really hoped the VMAs were going to be the “reset” after the chaos of the spring and summer that plagued its release. 911 should have been dropped right before/after the VMAs, which would have avoided them holding it till nearly a month after its performance. It should have been given merch, physicals, and treated as a proper single. Even if it hadn’t peaked super high it would have kept the era alive online

The era going radio silent two/three times really sent a lot of people to the brink and I think lead lots of people to stop following her as closely in general

Her disappearance during Chromatica. I understand some of it was because of the pandemic but that was still extreme.

Some people hate on Joanne but at least it was an era with more than one performance before the tour. (Even if 98% of it was Million Reasons. Other songs still got performed as well).

A certain pop Vegas residency :enigma:

I mean, financially speaking was a huge success, but if I were her I would delete every footage or every record that it ever existed...

Chromatic, Chromatic, put your hands all over my colors.

Making Joanne, that album really gave nothing and feels so empty

I like Joanne now for what it is and what it gave me at that time but damn I had to force myself to enjoy it because it's Gaga. I think she wanted to do this type of album some day and that was the right time coming from ARTPOP. A Star Is Born did the whole singer/songwriter persona so much better and even had more beautiful songs but not sure that project would've happened without Joanne. So one thing leads to another and I'm grateful we have that music but if she was gonna do ASIB anyway the way she did, I would not have missed Joanne.

Biased take: Not releasing anything for the 10th anniversary of ARTPOP :sue:

Between the petitions, hashtags, clips of G.U.Y. trending, Brooklyn Nights gaining traction, articles & videos about how the album was ahead of its time, and the fact that Gaga wasn't releasing anything else that year, it felt like a golden opportunity.

This for sure lol. Back in November 2023 I really expected at least Tea to be released or something and Act II would've been truly a gift. She's obviously not in that place anymore and it was a painful era that she thankfully got therapy for. When we got nothing I was like "Oh well, LG7 is the priority right now so maybe it's coming soon and she doesn't want ARTPOP Act II to take attention from new music". Little did we know nothing was coming til late 2024.

The good thing about all of this is that I feel like the petition for ARTPOP Act II inspired her to go in that direction again. Whether it was Michael's support or she got ideas from early sessions, Mayhem is looking like her best album since Born This Way and easily way better than what stuff she scrapped from ARTPOP.

Not releasing ARUTW as an official single. Would have been a top ten easily, if not number one. Honestly, ASIB could have been like Whitney's Bodyguard. With multiple singles smashing back to back.

I'm not so sure about this one, but I also think Gypsy should have been the third single from ARTPOP. It would have been a refreshingly upbeat, anthemic song that might have done better than GUY (and I like GUY), which felt like a backward move at the time.

Well ASIB is like The Bodyguard

this is the only correct answer

even if releasing unreleased tracks has a lot of awkward legal issues, that doesn't excuse the god awful merch and total silence from her

it was a great opportunity to bond with the fanbase but she just skipped it really...

mother, what must i do?
