This is musical theater tho, they do stuff like this all the time, as is mentioned in the OP that she already participated in an all-female production of the musical before. There's been an all-male production of Chicago, people who don't match age/body/gender type are cast for roles all the time - this is very much common-place, tradition even :flower:

Also republicans will say sh*t regardless, let them seethe, like, honestly I hope this gets them riled up - good, may their health suffer for it :flower:

Fr I readed an article in which it was saying that ppl who are always angry live lesser than happier ppl. :flower:

I'm not Christian but it's caricatural to cast a queer black woman to play a man's role :laughga:

Like this is nonsense, and Cynthia worths better than just getting controversies over controversies :laughga:

I'm going to go out on a limb and assume you know very little to nothing about this musical.

I love her. I think she’s one of the best actresses of our time to be honest.

I saw the 1973 movie version, I know that it's not the real Jesus in the story but... even as a poc woman like Cynthia, I do think that it is going to irritate ppl that Jesus is not played by a dude bc he's supposed to be a dude.

Like, it's more a representation dilemma bc they will say that it's blasphemous that a woman plays the role a saint figure who's dude.

(Too much "dude" in my sentences:laughga:)

Oh good. So you should know it's already seen as blasphemous by evangelicals. It's like putting glitter on rhinestones.

Yeah but we obviously know which communities Republicans are going to bully again on social networks... (Spoiler alert : the actress, the poc and the women) That's my point :lolga:

Why isn’t she?

Doesn't seem like it's meant to be a full length run of the show, just kind of a theater pop-up if you will.
