Anveeroy 58,003
Some fans, general public trashed "Judas" for being the second single from the "Born This Way" album. Some say it marked the downfall of Gaga's commercial appeal, but now, as we analyze, it is the best-performing song from the album on both Spotify and YouTube. It pulls in 1 million streams daily on Spotify. It seems like "Judas" has the last laugh, doesn't it? I've always believed in this masterpiece of a song, "Judas!" https://x.com/spotify_gaga/status/1890077508487508112 Stream Kylie-Janet Discographies! 1 11
HIMe 1,847
Both can be possible at the same time. Yes Judas is a big hit today. But yes it also completely detailed the Born This Way era when it flopped and they had to rush release TEOG.
GaGaAst 13,020
while it's impressive that Judas is doing this good after 14 years (I know it's been doing good since last year) , even monsters that time thought it did literally derail a huge era and nearly ended her career. Saying it had the last laugh is only impacting up monsters. No one outside our fan would think way though. Its a really good song but Gaga's aggressive approach is what was the issue and not Judas the song itself. elijahfan 25,386
Judas was a top 10 hit, sure it didn't do as good as BTW, but let's not exaggerate and pretend this nearly derailed the era. That's definitely not the memory I have of this moment.

A Very Gaga Holida 22,315
The Alejandro video and Born This Way are what started Gaga’s “downfall” tbh, no matter how successful there were And actually they’re kinda “forgotten” now, compared to other Gaga hits Edited February 16 by A Very Gaga Holida

I can show you several receipts regarding how Judas has been treated during BTW era and in the last few years. Suddenly, the narrative has shifted, as this is one of Gaga's top streaming songs. I did read your post, and all I'm saying is assuming a top 10 hit is enough to derail an entire era is quite exaggerated. Any artist, 15 years ago or today, would be quite happy with a top 10 hit. It just goes out to show the level of expectation back in the days was pretty insane.
AgentPOP 85
she should have just called it Jesus and made it a Christian 'anthem', that would have been the more 'controversial' move for her in that period of her career...

Well, if you think Born This Way didn’t make a lot of people turn their back on her because of the explicit LGBT “propaganda”, I don’t know what to tell you You act like it wasn’t a huge risk at that point in her career. Not to mention the actual sound Edited February 16 by A Very Gaga Holida

Not to mention the actual sound No one is saying this wasn’t a huge risk, we’re just disagreeing with your assessment that Alejandro and BTW was the start of an imaginary downfall These years were arguably her commercial and cultural peaks and established both her longevity and legendary status.
