I think all of these appearances (and honestly it’s been a Gaga overload this month) were kinda meant for her to get back in the general public eye as she’s heading towards a new album. It’s been 1/2 a decade since Chromatica came out and her visibility was hampered due to COVID. You can also conjecture that her team maybe wanted to detract from the joker stuff to remind everyone of her talent? I think we all kinda didn’t get the concept of the SNL concert. It’s now clear it was meant to showcase the iconic hosts, musical acts, and skits over the past half a century. We all looked a little too into Gaga liking that one comment about her doing Abra/disease but looking back, this event wasn’t suited for that at all. Her latest appearances seem to have been a concentrated effort to get her back in the public eye singing classics with the notion they’ll be drawn to her new era/music. Let’s look at her latest appearances. fireaid: she’s always been one to do charity stuff and she lives very close to the fires. We knew she’d do or partake in something and this was a cute little thing. Grammys: clearly DWAS was planned but we still got the Abra debut which is arguably one of the most iconic things she’s done in a long time, or any pop star for that matter. 10m+ watched as a full song and video debuted during a commercial spot and the MC deal clearly worked bc it’s her biggest solo song in years. Super Bowl: 100m+ watched and were reminded of her talent. My aunt, neighbors and random people were saying how good she was. All of this helps draws eyes on her. hot ones: 2.5m views, mentioned Abra at the start , was real & genuine and lots of positive comments SNL: Obviously I wasn’t expecting what we got but once again she’s in front of extremely famous stars and people tuning in for one of the most iconic shows. I just don’t think any of us knew the format of the show and that it was a SNL greatest hits show essentially to commemorate the 50th anniversary. Singing Abra or disease would’ve been kinda weird tbh. Don’t yall want the first live performance on a stage that makes sense? Idk. Gaga being there with all that iconic talent still shows her staying power in Hollywood as a cut above the rest and I think that’s the idea of their promotional strategy before the more mayhem-specific stuff starts in the next few weeks (nighttime talk shows, Zane Lowe, more Abra promo from MC, etc). I also think her doing this kinda confirms she’ll be a guest closer to the album release. Similar to how she sang HMH and obviously a deal was struck to promote abracadabra 3xs during the SB during bumpers before commercials. I totally get we all expected something very different but if we take our emotions out of it, she’s literally everywhere and continuing to grow in Spotify listeners. The idea is that people will gravitate to her new material when it comes out. We have NO idea what the team has planned from next week until album release and beyond. I still feel I’m being fed and she seems happy and healthy. And tbh, I wouldn’t want the first mayhem performance to be relegated to a Peacock exclusive SNL celebration. I stand firm that not that we know what the format of the show was, Gaga singing either disease or Abra would’ve been weird AF.
