Mate in this day and age literally anything is a slur. Ppl are obsessed with political correctness to the point where even the most harmless name or gesture can now be an insult. It's pathetic.

The term Gypsy has always seemed very romantic and bohemian to me and to art culture. Like you said the "nomadic or free-spirited person", and while they are ostracised by society, their culture and history is rich and enigmatic. And anyone with half a brain can clearly see that Gaga never meant that song to be derogative towards travellers, but something to be celebrated, so I wouldn't worry about trying to censor it.

I can't educate you, I can only agree with you. And I would go further, I would say that gypsy is a beautiful word. It has connotations of mystery and romance and it's a shame imo that it has become problematic.
