It doesn't change the fact that they are oppressing people there. Also, what's with the "eAsT TuRKeStAn"? Is there some reason my LG7 isn't here? Has she died or something? Emvee 8,845
China saw the opportunity and they took it. The United States and Israel are not viewed positively anymore and it looks like China has positioned itself accordingly. In a perfect world, Tibet and Uyghurstan would be independent countries. Then again, in a perfect world, countless Native Americans would not have been displaced, relocated, murdered, “re-educated” by force and deceived through fraudulent treaties. There are no good guys in the world. Just geopolitics.

LilyLark 10,213
20 hours ago, Jill said: And the source of all of this is American media and American-funded NGOs. It's always like that no matter where you look. One of the main purposes of the recently extinguished USAID was exactly that, to finance media outlets and shape the way news were reported. That is also the purpose of the US Agency for Global Media, that finances, amongst other outlets, Radio Free Asia - the original source of many of these claims and many other pieces of misinformation about countries that threaten the US in one way or another, be it China itself, be it Iran, be it the DPRK, be it Cuba, whatever. And it's not just Americans that are fooled by it. Such a coincidence that the #1 geopolitical enemy of the one imperialist country that's been waging wars left and right on half the world for over a century is constantly demonized on US media and by US-backed organizations around the world. Color me shocked! Whatever interests may lie behind these claims? No worries I guess! I'm sure everything is cool and totally factual! There's no point in delving a little deeper than what Western media is saying! Sis, I've met multiple Uyghurs myself when my dad worked in Istanbul. Long story, but his job used to send him abroad quit a bit. Neither one of my parents are "Americans" (so no, my dad didn't work for a US company or the US govt lol, I'm not spouting a US govt. schtick), but I consider myself American as I've spent the majority of my life there. I really don't think they were lying about living in Turkey as they felt they had far more freedom and safety there than they did back in China. There are tens of thousands of Uyghurs in Turkey, and many fled there for safety and not funsies. The US does a lot of terrible sh*t, but not everything negative about China is "Western Imperialism" or "Western Media Lies."
LilyLark 10,213
I'm glad China is sticking up for Palestine, but good lord the hypocrisy is kind of insane considering that they "still" do business with Israel and how they treat the Uyghurs. Then again, all major, powerful countries-China, the US, France, Germany, the UK, Russia, India, Pakistan, Iran, etc.-are hypocritical.

Until China begins supporting Palestine economically and militarily on the same level that the United States does with Israel, it’s just rhetoric. Talk is cheap. Let’s not pretend China didn’t normalize relations with Israel and undermine Palestine in doing so. But it’s absolutely not surprising as Palestine gets used like a pawn by a lot of other actors including fellow Arab and Muslim countries. Those countries always boost themselves as champions of Palestinians when it’s actually more an ideological and geopolitical game that they are playing. Never underestimate the power of ethnic, religious, and national supremacy. But going back to China, they are absolutely repositioning themselves to gain more soft power within the global south. Talk is cheap. Let’s not pretend China didn’t normalize relations with Israel and undermine Palestine in doing so. Yeah let's turn Palestine into a proxy war. That will totally make things better. China has a historic foreign policy of non-intervention in the internal affairs of other countries, contrary to the US. They can show support and send tons of humanitarian aid (which they have), but they can't arm anyone because that will set a very dangerous precedent and give the US even more excuses.
