I only consider something satanic if it involves worship to satan. The symbol she forms in the music video is directly the satanic sigil. You do know that everything Gaga does is all performance and theatre right? It's not real The song is about magic and witchcraft as a metaphor for love, and in true Gaga fashion she's bound to incorporate occult symbolism into it. Many bands, especially heavy metal bands, use occult and often satanic symbolism in their aesthetics all the time. It doesn't mean they're actually Satanists. I'm assuming you're Christian, but I find it kinda unnerving that you're so quick to concern about potential Satan worship in this day and age, especially from the likes of Gaga who is just a campy popstar. We're not in the 17th Century anymore I'm fine, Ta
Cavadour 2,149
There's a 'jeu de mots' in french (a word play, a pun) : 'Satan l'habite' (Satan inhabits him/her), because it's pronounced and sounds exactely similar to : 'Ça tend la bite' (It stretches out the d!ck)... Whereas 'tendre' is a transitive verb you can translate in many ways like : tighten, brace, bend, hang, crane.... Sooo, there you go ! There need to be sacrifice. by the way satanism is not so black and white as people tend to think. Also playfulness with this stuff, it’s nothing wrong. To be fair I’m more scared of official religions ruling the world and how it works out in the long term, which is 90% of the time a complete sh1t and hate train all over, since the beginning of time. Satanism and black magic, whether one believes in them or not, aren’t things to take lightly. it’s true that organised religion has many flaws, including historical violence and corruption, pointing out those issues doesn’t justify or minimise the harm caused by others. there are real cases of people engaging in extreme and harmful acts under the name of Satanism ( like human sacrifices, exploitation, and abuse) dismissing the darker aspects. seems irresponsible. I also feel that sometimes, people embrace Satanism more as a reaction against Christianity than out of genuine belief, which can lead to a superficial or reckless engagement with it. MOT 2,817
Seven pages. Magnificent. I commend everyone for their efforts. Gaga has always been a troll. She might be at it again here. I don't know, but it doesn't matter. It's just fun. 7
Chromanne 958
If you're genuinely concerned about Abracadabra being Satanic, you don't have to be worried. The word itself had derived from pre-Christian beliefs and was used as a healing chant. It doesn't have any relation to the worship of Satan. There are many cultures in the world in which black and red have significance, hence it doesn't mean they are evil. The things you see in the video are just her creative ideas, nothing more than that. Also, Gaga herself is a Catholic so she wouldn't be literally sacrifice someone for success despite the jokes in pop culture and overreaction of conservatives. RAMROD 106,670
Yes it is, and yes we are. 99% of Gaga fanbase are gay men, who are also atheists and small numbers are satanist, because we are educated af, and also most especially since religious folks shunned us. Or do you think it’s bs? Please don’t attack me, I love Gaga and her music since 2009, but I’m not ok with satanic worship. Have you ever actually researched into Satanism as a practiced religion. Because your fear and rejection of it is a very archaic Christian perspective and is totally not worth getting so paranoid about. It was actually Christianity that invented the term “Satanist” (and the character "Satan"). Back in the old days when Christianity reigned supreme and sought dominance over all, and when people were too stupid to know any better, anyone who did not believe in God or follow the strict doctrine, or anyone who believed in a different religion, or in science (e.g. the OG Illuminarti, or the “enlightened ones”) etc, were instantly deemed as devil worshipers, because they believed that anything outside of the Christian belief was evil. The Church wanted power and it was their way of manipulating people to not seek truth by any other means. People began to adopt the worship of Satan as a rejection to the oppression of Christianity. They saw Satan not as an evil demonic monster but basically a rebel who was bold enough to stand up against God’s dictatorship and was therefore punished by him and cast out of heaven for his audacity. They see Satan as more akin to humans, who are always balancing the forces of good and bad by nature. Satan was a kind of patriarch rather than an all powerful god, and a symbol for the human condition. It was a way for people to seek freedom from the strict and often intolerant confines of Christianity. There are different types of Satanism, mainly Theistic, Atheistic and Personal. Non of which are particularly organised, and all of which are a tiny minority compared to the big religions and they keep to themselves. And non of which preach anything particularly evil or misanthropic. In fact I can confidently say that Christianity has ironically exhibited way more evil and cruelty in the name of ‘Jesus Christ’ over the past few hundred years than Satanism ever has. I respect everyone has a right to believe in whatever they want, but it kinda baffles me that to this day, when we have so much more knowledge at our fingertips, that so many people are still devoutly religious when the history of those religions are so problematic and bloody! The actual spooky, demonic, blood sacrifice ritual bs is a massive misinterpretation of what Satan worship actually is, and was pushed by paranoid Christians and later by Hollywood. And it was often just made to seem scary to frighten and piss off the Christians. Sure there are some dangerous nutters out there who do do all that creepy evil stuff (the Satanic Cults; again a tiny minority), but that’s not real Satanism and those people are very unwell. So in short, Satanism should be of little concern to anyone. And when Satanic and Occult imagery is used in art and media, it is commonly just for aesthetics or to shock (e.g. Gaga and Marilyn Manson etc.) I hope I got my facts right. It’s been years since I wrote a thesis on this I'm fine, Ta 4
