Gaga vs GP (She wins)

I watched the Disease music video for the first time since Abra came into our lives, and I found it so bizarre that the objectively most perfect pop song was given such a garish (beautifully and artistically) video when Abra, a much more divisive formula melodically, was given pure pop treatment visually. I couldn't help but think, I don't think Gaga is after the approval of the GP at all.

So we all know Gaga's rise. For us, it was immediate, monumental and all-encompassing. But Gaga felt all the sides of that. The HUGE welcome and the aggressive backlash for how she looked (which sex she was, etc), none of which affected her success. Being hailed the Queen of Twitter and YouTube. The new Queen of music in every way. To have the majority of the world love you is baffling for a 20-something to understand, but for so many of them to turn around and point-blank hate you? It's a whole other board game. 

The lesson she must have learnt was that a HUGE portion of the population never actually cared about who you are at all.
She is giving this to the fans. I am going to take it all personally (as should you). The reaction of the GP is so clearly not what this is about to her, and it definitely shouldn't be for us (A hard one for me to overcome, too, always wanting to see her get her flowers), but realising, she already has them with us. This one is for us.

💯 You hit the nail on the head. This album is for us regardless of what the GP thinks. She must have felt so betrayed during ARTPOP, but I think she has learned that sometimes art doesn’t stick and it’s okay! It doesn’t mean we left. It doesn’t mean she is worth less. Most of the “fans” at her peak were casuals, but we the core fanbase never left. 

Her recent Instagram post about following us wherever we go is an acknowledgement of that, while also maintaining a healthy boundary this time.
