As for a proper translation, if your native language is English, I'd recommend the Hollander. It's a great work for someone who doesn't speak Italian, but be careful with the commentary, which can be a little suffocating if you try to read it all. My best advice, which usually students agree with, is to choose some famous canti and start reading and digesting those (e.g. Inf. I-III; V; XXVI...) before trying to read all the poem, as it's hard for native speakers as well.

Doesn't have English metre rules about synalepha? In Italian you could leave that vowel without changing the lenght of the verse (I don't hear a caesura, but maybe that's me)

I’m speaking Italian (because my husband is Italian so I need to speak with his family lol) fluent but it’s not in the level to understand the book in some sense, the book is tough, I can understand 3 sentences and then feel dumb for the next 10 lol

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who thought this when hearing the music!! Even her entrance reminds me of when the Phantom pulls Christine "through the mirror"
