Fascinated by how much your enjoyment of her music is tied to chart performance tbh (also fairly condescending to assume other people liking something you don’t is “blindly stanning”)

Nope, I'm into it since the first verse. This is 100% Gaga.

:icega: Just a reminder that OMI’s “Cheerleader” is a #1 billboard hit. Charts mean absolutely nothing in a generation that makes songs about a little boy liking corn move thousands of copies.

I mean it was definitely an odd way to word it but i really doubt there was malice or hateful intent behind it. I think what they are trying to say is that it is dangerously close to capturing the essence of old gaga, but something is just missing. Which is why i suggested maybe their taste has just changed.

i keep seeing people across all platforms saying things along the lines of “new gaga is just not hitting the same” and i think thats because a lot of them are just in different times and mindsets and don't attach to Gaga's art in the same way they used to.

Idk about you but that sounds very offensive especially to Gaga :huntyga:

i agree that not everyone will like her songs nor will like her the same way again but to echo your words “disagree gracefully”.

im just so turned off by the gibberish chorus and stuttery ab bra ca da bra part. i feel like every song on btw/ARTPOP/chromatica is better than this. maybe my mind will change but for now i think the video is better than the song. the video slays.

WARNING: Plz do not be mean to people who may not like the song and please also be respectful to those who love the song! I just want to see if anyone else has the same thoughts as me and was al ittle bit disappointed :(

The album will be amazing for sure! Just I dont think i like either single so far tbh.

To me Abra felt a bit like Gaga almost like not knowing how to be a popstar anymore...it feels like a parody of old Gaga in some ways but again I am HAPPY for the ppl who love it and it means it did its job for you guys for sure!

I respect how you may not like the song, but saying it's a  "parody of old Gaga" is interesting. You need to back that up with analysis. Have you been a fan since the beginning? If you have then you might feel that this is actually amazing pop. It's who she is but also an evolved version... because people change over time, including her. The imagery alone in the music video gives you insight into her psyche. To call it a parody is not the correct takeaway.

I mean, this surprises me, because on twitter the reaction from film/music journos and "twitter figures" was overwhelmingly positive (and not just the stans). That mean queen who writes for Vanity Fair and who went after Billie's performance at the Grammy's loved it, and he's been routinely mean about Gaga lately. I follow a lot of film/music journos, and I haven't seen one criticism from that circle.

From stan and anti-stan twitter, I do think some tend to be overly critical and overly consumed with chart performances.  For example, I saw a lot of people suddenly deciding Disease was "terrible" (even if they had previously praised it) because it did so-so on the charts and they started saying everyone thought it was a bad song (nevermind the fact that the critics loved it, and most fans initially loved it).

But I think you have a valid point too, that for some people the music just doesn't hit as hard as they are in a different place in their life. I'm also in a different place, and the music still hits hard though lol.
