There needs to be a serious revolt from artists. These executives are killing the industry. Nobody's safe. Not even Gaga and her changed tracklist and dozen album variants.

Greed has no place in art. Especially not when it's potentially derailing these artists' lives.

I essentially don’t understand why a label would sign an artist to literally abandon them and prevent them from doing their thing. What’s even the point of signing them in the first place? So many big label horror stories out there.

To get rid of competition for their main artists. Easy.

exactly. they pick artists just in case and then probably weigh if it's worth the investment or go to another one of their artists.. so sad and corrupted.

It was a really interesting interview, she’s dealt with a lot incredibly well, sad she had to go through the mill in the way she has. She came across very well but I also think she only scratched the surface about what the record labels she used to be signed to put her through.

Her adding DWAS on Mayhem was probably not her decision :traumatica: But I guess it's for the better because we're getting a non GP friendly album and singles :ladyhaha:

Justin was used so heavily by the industry when he was so young, it's sick. No wonder he's had so many issues with relationships, how can you trust anyone when this is your reality? It's not the first time we've heard this kinda thing. Little Mix were told at an industry party to go over and flirt with a group of executives, which is just so pimp-coded, I can't even. It's not like there's proof that dating someone famous even helps a music career. It can increase your profile, sure, but it rarely translates into musical success. Yet there are whole contracts drawn up to form a fake relationship to promote an album or film. A lot of female artists are just viewed as commodities by labels and it's sad that in 2025, we're still having this conversation. I hope MeToo has stopped a lot of this nonsense.
