HBDUWM is probably pulling like 100K daily streams on the US, especially after yesterday update, can they actually make a song with numbers like this a single with label push? And the same goes for ViY.

Nothing is slaying from the album tracks so it’s a bet whatever they choose

Idk I'd rather have a single or even just a MV than nothing at all for the rest of the era?

Even if it doesn't chart much, it can still have cultural impact with iconic music videos and performances. And radio could easily get on board with the lack of good music this year.

I want something right now don't get me wrong, but i doubt her team wants a wildcard after Abra's success, especially if we want keep the AOTY conversation alive.

I mean, these are 4 old month songs and the US streams are low, i don't see them risking it tbh.

I'd loveee to be proven wrong, but after advocating so hard for dead dance i need to come down to reality a bit :huntyga:

I still think dead dance (or wtv the name they come up with) will be the next single, and it will be tied to Wednesday to seal this era in a high note.

Aren't yesterday's numbers clearly a bug tho? How can Abracadabra have bigger filtered numbers than the ones for the unfiltered update?

Or did I see the wrong updates? :oprah:

would we rather the Mayhem era end on a hit note with Abra (forget US peaks for a sec) and move forward to a deluxe/Wednesday lead in fall...or do we want them to release a video that won't crack 50M for the next 6 months no matter how good it is?

I'd rather them leave VIY,HBDUWM,GOE if they don't plan on featuring some big star to give it a fresh spin. A radio deal is not happening for a 3rd (4th) single, they won't play it, no matter how radio friendly it is. Videos is a dead bet nowadays, a viral video on youtube won't translate to sales, streams, it will just burn away.

A viral tiktok moment happening from a performance is more likely to make any song chart, than a music video. don't get me wrong i needed Mayhem to be a visual album, but let's be real for a sec.

The main problem for that theory is that the season is starting in 3 months.
Abracadabra is already 4 months old as a single, waiting 3 more months would kill of the momentum and they would need to make hype from the ground again.

If anything is even planned for autumn it would be good to have atleast something over the summer to keep any of the remaining hype alive

i still have some (small) faith in Abra on radio, i really do. The fact that Gar didn't push something new on Tadum and Jenna was there for Abra tells me they want Abra to keep holding on? Can someone realistically feature on Abra remix?

US radio:

The radio has been basically getting older songs (straight up skeletons) stronger all week, after they dropped rapidly last week. I think there is some kind of correction.

A few examples from today:

2= Kendrick Lamar & SZA - luther 171 days 67.46 +0.82

3= Lady Gaga & Bruno Mars - Die With A Smile 285 days 54.86 +0.64

4= Shaboozey - A Bar Song (Tipsy) 383 days 53.76 +0.68

15+2 Teddy Swims - Lose Control 561 days 37.44 +1.27 *biggest gainer today*

On the other hand, Abra is 20th, and above it are only the following 5 songs that are younger (on the radio):

1= Doechii - Anxiety 69 days 74.67 +0.88

5= Alex Warren - Ordinary 50 days 50.75 +0.95

14= Benson Boone - Sorry I'm Here For Someone Else 91 days 38.08 +0.41

17-2 Leon Thomas & Chris Brown - MUTT (CB REMIX) 78 days 36.87 +0.47

18+2 Riley Green - Worst Way 82 days 36.83 +0.80

I think there is still hope for Abra to move up, we will just have to wait and see. Among this year released songs, only Anxiety and Ordinary have been supported really by the radio so far.

Maybe they expect/expected to Abra to still be a relevant song in the summer?

Actually... they did push something new on Tudum and thats Zombieboy. The general public only knows DWAS and Abra. This tells me that they are testing the waters with this track or/and this song is really featured in Wed.

I second this.

I think, without ever having studied marketing before, that they feel very content with three singles. DWAS soft rock, Disease dark dance-pop with grunge influences, and Abracadabra dark dance-pop.

DWAS is one of the biggest songs of all time, and Abracadabra is a hit. For its genre, Abracadabra is a massive success. It has spent 14 weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot Dance/Pop songs (!!), and it's a global hit outside the US.

And that's without mentioning the Guinness World Records, MAYHEM going number 1 across the world, and headlining Coachella with critical acclaim.

We should even tamper expectations for a possible new wednesday song and a possibility for a deluxe BUT I think that's a much more realistic option than pushing album tracks as singles atp.

a deluxe or a droplet around grammy voting period should happen tho :excited2: and let's not forget we still have the tour happening, which might have just enough viral moments to keep her in the public's eyes until Wednesday and beyond.

I'm not worried. If there is a potential new single related to Wednesday, the series and its audience will determine the success of the single. However, since Mayhem appeals to hardcore fans, hopefully the single will appeal to them as well and the two effects will reinforce each other, plus by then TMB will be starting.

Tbh, I'm starting to think it won't be a deluxe :oprah: Call me delulu but I think it might be an album inspired on Wednesday :icant:

I remember reading somewhere that MAYHEM was going to be Gaga's first album of the year :nooo: Maybe she liked her character that much and decided to do something special as she has just a small role. (I hope she gets a bigger one if there's another season for Wednesday. I'm sure this character will be fun and a serve)
