The writing's in the wall...

--> Shallow, ARUTW, DWAS

They want songs about LOVE, catchy, with a SWEET chorus. Please see VIY or GOE. Not abstract songs about magic spells and viruses (and it's no shade to those songs, they are some of my favorite), but I hope the LG Gods just give the basics what they want. It's right there, just take it!

She already gave them with HMH and Happy Mistakes and it didn't click like at all.

Blade of Grass and The Beast are the least streamed. Ballads doesn't mean 100% safe hit anyway. Abracadabra has clicked a lot more than those previously quoted

Happy Mistake and HMH are not single-worthy whatsoever and HM was not pushed to radio. Not fair comps at all.

When did radio start becoming so vital to chart success in the US?

I remember back in the late 2010s, streams especially on Spotify were all that mattered in the years when gaga was still considered "streaming poison". Its so ironic that Now that she's gotten her footing on streaming and is even considered a force of some sort, steady and decent streams suddenly don't guarantee a good placement on the hot 100 anymore? Soooo frustrating

I think because back in the day our faves sold a lot of downloads, Born This Way single sold 509,000 downloads on its first full week in US. Hold Ut Against Me by Britney sold 411,000 first week.

So without downloads you have to either be slaying on streaming or radio and if you’re lucky both at the same time.

So you’re telling me that dumb Anxiety supposed song went top ten but not debra :madge:

I thought i was the only one who didnt like that song :billie: i cant stand the fact that they touch the classic Somebody That I Used To Know to make this...and people falling for it, they should used that energy to stream STIUTK instead!!!!!!!

Quizás bastaba respirar, sólo respirar, muy lento...💙

This was also a song created 4-5 years ago, that is now doing numbers. Goes to show you that things do t follow traditional models (same thing kinda happened when Bloody Mary took off) .

The key piece of data is that Debra is #40 and below in U.S. Spotify streaming with a music video, dance challenge, SNL performance, and most recently a whole week at #1 for TTH. Radio may be growing very slowly but the song isn't a natural grower on streaming... which makes sense because it is not the most streaming (or radio) friendly song out given the current music climate. Ariana did not flop whatsoever, Beyonce released a straight up country song with Miley, and CR/the brat girl are largely net new artists (and I'd argue Brat is NOT radio friendly given current climate).

I hope I'm wrong but I'd hate for resources to be wasted when we have VIY and GOE waiting in the wings (both of which are much more easy on the ears with addictive RELATABLE choruses). Gaga said it herself when she released DWAS... just give the people what they want. Heck, I'm sure HBDYWM would do better than #40 U.S. Spotify. Please remember this is LADY GAGA we are talking about, not some indie artist.

I agree Abra had enough promo to take off...but I don't think any other song will do better tbh. Gaga just does not do well w charts, unless some ballad (which will likely require some collab or something)

Abra is doing better than any other female song released this year so far, lol Gaga does well with charts. It’s been a global billboard top 10 hit its entire run so far. So idk what u guys are on about.

She is doing fine. The song is going steady. A number of those songs are new releases which will come and go. She did messy single changes during BTW and ARTPOP and it made things messier. The song is a hit in the US and globally. It made big waves and has the stream counts to show as well as social media trends. It has a chance to go top 10 in the US after Coachella.  GOE and VIY only did as well as they did because of playlisting and aggressive pushing from the label. HBDUWM is the song with the most potential to smash.
