Is she doing those many streams on Spotify? I thought the song was tanking This says a lot about her fanbase in the US... It all comes down to Gaga’s team having “terrible timing”. Had Abra been released today -asumimg it had the same performance- it would’ve debuted top 5 cause there’s less competition across the board. With physicals maybe even top 3 would’ve been possible. I get that debuting it at the Grammys out of nowhere created hype, but that decision deliberately cost her 2 full days of tracking and they knew the Superbowl effect would occur the next week. This goes to show they never really intended Abra to chart well, otherwise they would’ve never done that. Sometimes you have to pick between chart success or narrative impact. Success doesn’t always mean #1 single. They definitely considered Abra surprise dropping on Musics biggest night was more “of a moment”, and prioritized that over its chart run. That’s why I laugh like crazy when fans say “she’s going for longevity”, when most Gaga’s singles historically have not that great of a hold on the charts 🤣. They just did not care about the songs chart run and thats perfectly fine. If they cared they would’ve waited until closer to the album to release it. (I personally would’ve preferred they released it closer to the album cause that way we would’ve had a great debut with a fast decline rather than a lukewarm debut and a fast decline…plus, narratively speaking we would be able to actually say she got a solo top 5 and perception wise that also makes the era feel “successful”. We all know how US-centric the industry is, sadly.)

It didn’t have a fast decline there either lol. It’s her most stable solo pop song since Applause. Radio is holding it back a bit but it hasn’t left the top 40 there either (going on 8 weeks) and it’s def making the year-end chart British social ladies with upturned pinkies, glasses clinking // xoxoTEANUS

Many voters will only want to give her one or the other, and if that occurs fairly evenly she could lose in both. Her chances are greatly increased if she competes in one of those categories and Pop Vocal Album is more coveted. Beyoncé's been doing that for some time and they keep giving her lots of Grammys. Gaga might and I really think should do the same

Radio is holding it back a bit but it hasn’t left the top 40 there either (going on 8 weeks) and it’s def making the year-end chart Yes its her most stable song since Applause, that doesnt necessarily mean it hasn’t seen sharp declines week to week. Abra went from 13 to 30 in one week. Then it rose back to 19 on album release week, and next week its predicted to go back to 33. That trend will continue because radio isn’t supporting it quickly enough. Give it two more weeks and it will likely be around 50. It’s not a full free fall like Rain On Me, but it has seen its hefty declines. I am willing to correct myself saying its stable around the top 35. But then again to me that’s not particularly a goof chart placement, and I think the week after this one will be very telling if it is actually declining as fast as I think it is. Desclaimer: this is a US-centric take. The song has been very successful everywhere else
