Lol fine if it makes u happy to compare but it makes absolutely no sense. Ur talkong apples to oranges and trying to make an apples to apples comparison then using that as an argument to drag ppl who wish it charted higher for that reaskn

I for one am not going to compare my 2025 income salary to how good it would have been if i earned that when I started working in 2011.

At the very least if u wanna make comparisons to ROM, dont use that arugument to tell ppl like me were crazy when we think its doing pretty good but not totally smashing as of now cuz to me that argument is like rehiring someone after 15 years and telling them "what? Im paying you $1 more, its more than last time". But it literally isnt :selena:

I’m not inherently disagreeing, but do you know where we could verify the distinction between 2020 top hit numbers vs 2025’s? I’m on my phone, so I’ll check Kworb in a bit. I just wanna find like what the average global top 5 song was earning in 2020 vs now.

I do quantitative research, so I definitely agree we need to be cautious with any numerical comparison when the scenarios/factors are different. But I also think there are real times when we can still make some reasonable conclusions using data like this.

How is going from 5.9 to 5.4 declining fast :laughga:

The slight decrease is okey, it had an initial boost because GP loves it but 5M updates are fine.

You’re leaving out +6M updates from earlier in the week.

5.9 to 5.4 isn’t that drastic, but from 6.3 to 5.4 and with the song losing 300k-400k per day, that could indicate the song was heavily front loaded and has yet to stabilize fully. It will probably stabilize around 4M I guess.

Lady Gaga had 9 songs doing +1 million streams yesterday on Spotify : Die With a Smile, Abracadabra, Poker Face, Disease, ARUTW, Just Dance, Shallow, Bad Romance and Judas.

Paparazzi, Telephone and Alejandro had their biuggest daily streams EVER.

Such a strong catalogue hold on Spotify. We're not ready for the MAYHEM release week boost

Sorry but 2025 numbers are not as different to 2020's as you are implying. Soecially when you compare numbers for the same artist. Taking again Bad Bunny as an example, he debuted #1 this year with around 12% more streamings than in 2020. That's roughly what numbers have grown.

At worst Abra is doing on pair with ROM, but with a higher peak in total streamings.

They are different enough especially globally.

Taking the same artist isnt proof of anything. U can literally perform differently years later, music careers are like that

It was rare for songs to get much more than 6M maybe 7M in 2020. Now top songs crack 10M pretty often

That is not a small difference. Thats like a 40% or more difference

Abra is doing well. But i still find comparing it to 2020 apples to oranges. The same number doesnt equal the same impact as before. More ppl were still using youtube and stuff especially in developing countries in areas such as south america and Asia (where on top of that Gaga is bigger than some other domestic US domestic artists)

The Copacabana boost is gonna be INSANE I think too. The boost from Brazil combined with the social media blast they’ll make will be inescapable I feel

Not to mention it’s only like 3 weeks after Coachella which should be big too

Unpopular opinion but I feel like she's more in a self image promotion mode to make up with the public disaster Joker Folie A deux was, than just promoting her album.

I totally get her point and that's absolutely needed if she still want to have a very warm / popular image as an actress and artist, just like she had the last decade (post ARTPOP low)

Don´t be that sure that the numbers of Western artists are that different compared to 2020.  Yes, Spotify has now way more users, but that´s because it has expanded to Asia and LATAM, where local artists are dominant. For example if we exclude TPD because TS numbers are honestly an outlier we can see:

The second biggest debut from last year was 85 million for Chromakopia, and without being an outlier it´s an incredibly high number.  The biggest album debut in 2020 was Bad Bunny with 66M. Yes, the numbers have grown, but BB would have been 4th biggest debut in 2024 with those same 66 millions.

What I´m trying to say is that good numbers from 2020 are still good numbers for today standards, and that improving from 2020 is still very good.

Taking your example, streaming grew 28.7% from 2020 to 2024.

Applying that to ROM, Abra is performing pretty exactly the same (4.2M * 1.287 = 5.4M).
Comparing SMASHES with SMASHES, actually :abra:

Difference is the RAH RAH bitch itch is finally being scratched in Gar’s artistry again & it’s generating a lot of hype for her. There’s also so much promo being lined up so I’m not worried. Coachella & Copacabana performances have the opportunity to go MEGA VIRAL if she delivers (and lbr you know she will). Can’t forget iHeart Radio Awards either & potentially more unannounced (SNL, etc). Abra is at very least peaking during album release week. TRUST! :ororomunroe:

Abracadabra reaches 39M views on Youtube :Lurk:

this is literally such a RARE figure for a western artist to pull off in 2024. LET THAT SINK IN. Queen of Youtube Indeed.
