The discourse I've seen surrounding the song on IG so far is negative. Yesterday I saw a girl who posted a "prediction" video, imagining how the song would sound before its release, and it was very accurate, both musically and lyrically wise. 

The impression I got was that people in the comments found the song to be predictable/unremarkable. However, the "unremarkable" part might be me projecting, because that's my opinion too . I haven't seen people raving about the song TBH, I think it got curiosity streams + algorythm push TBH. 

Through GaGa, I got A LOT of new pop releases pushed down my throat, by artists I don't care about. I imagine Spotify is spamming the track to everyone who streams female popstars TBH.

The unfiltered update today is kinda bad ngl, dropping on every track on a Friday (Abra only one to increase) , I wonder if Spotify did something, HMHAS also dropped on every track today , maybe all the new releases are stealing some streams? idk.

 

 Meanwhile Sabrina's new release boosted short n sweet by 12% despite not being in the album.

I know fans prefer VIY but HBDUWM is almost guaranteed to do better and just think about the album promo and further exposure to people.

 

Personally id rather Gaga get another solo hit that will further promote album and further solidify career than a song that is probably not as likely to do well as a single

Its Also a pretty different sound, i honestly like the diversity in AN album cycles. Each single would be pretty distinct. Kinda too much but She can do It. A very simple Song Is perfect After abracadabra. In that Sende lovedrug and how bad do you want me are the best options. Plus this One Is the only Song i can see doing decent in the US, assuming It reaches the general public.

The song is okay but just feels like she keeps trying to copy paste the formula of Espresso/Please x3, but the songs keep getting worse and uninspired

This too. Disease and Abra were rather heavy and intense. Theres nothing wrong with switching to a breathe easy feel good and easy to digest song for the summer 

 

A more generic sound does not always have to be bad or inferior. Gaga has proven this album has diversity and theres nothing wrong with trying to get 1 more hit to promote album further and if HBDUWM has the best shot at doing that so be it

 

VIY is maybe more unique but also more likely to be hit or miss with GP. Since its the 3rd/4th single the chances that it will miss kinda increases tbh cuz theres less hype left now and GP is less likely to give it multiple listens to let it grow on them. A easy to digest song that ppl like on first listen is much more likely to do well. 

 

I know streaming wise VIY has largely outperformed HBDUWM until recently but keep in mind thats largely fan streams. It does not necessairily mean as a single the outcome would be the same and GP reception could be different from fans reaction
