Years old gripe but if they would have pushed ARUTW as a proper single it would have smashed  but I understand why Shallow was pushed instead. Both had similar potential but Shallow had Bradley and the song was initially pushed mainly to promote the movie.

If she can deliver a mid-tempo pop/rock song like these once or twice in an album era they can basically carry an album like DWAS is for Mayhem, freeing her up to do more fun stuff with the rest of the album that's less focused on driving sales and more so just to create something neat.

That why Vanish, Don’t Call Tonight, LoveDrug and even Blade of Grass has more potential to be hits than GOE. ZombieBoy and Shadow

dance pop is dead atm.

I could see Vanish Into You being a cute top 20 hit  LoveDrug as well if it got the exposure it needed.

Both have killer hooks which has always been her strong suit lyrically.

Beyonce had an extreme fanbase reach with cow boy Carter tho? Dolly Parton, Miley, Post Maloon, are huge collabs she dropped on cc with 27 songs. Literally Mayhem without DWAS would have been a 13 song album pushing over 700 million streams so far. And that can without saying fi she had 27 songs it may have hit 1B by now.

You could argue that both Gaga and Rose gifted him hits  Juicy, Skinny & Dry flopped 

And the Beyonce comparison isn't really meant to be shade, it's just to illustrate to some people that don't follow the numbers that MAYHEM is doing good, Bey is revered as the standard and the best on the pop industry (I mean, even by you, saw your post on other thread ), i feel like it's natural for gaga fans to draw comparisons if Gaga is doing a bit better comparably. If anything, this is a compliment to Bey (and gaga), we don't compare Gaga with khias.   

Now, undermining the Gaga's success just because 1 song and 1 collab doesn't sit right with me tbh and I'm not talking specifically for you, more generally, i really wish this fanbase would accept DWAS more, the GP doesn't give a damn.

Which is why it's weird to get defensive (not you but some stans) 'cause it would have been #1 regardless just like every other album of hers

In no world did Mayhem flop but it also can't be denied that it got 3x the streams it would have otherwise thanks to the decision to slap DWAS on at the end

I will never accept DWAS  I didn't care for the song in the first place but it being added to the album will always rub me the wrong way 'cause she's better than that. Making profit driven decisions about an album's tracklisting  

Fat Juicy & Wet is just a bad song  even Bruno can't save that mess rip. The GP eats up his music otherwise though. Uptown Funk? The one about catching a grenade? Not my cup of tea personally but they eat it up

I gotta stress that I'm not like trying to attack Gaga or anything  Mayhem f*cks hard, I just don't vibe with the capitalist ventures and number chasing, especially for an artist who'll be living in a billion+ dollar household when she and Michael tie the knot. Make music, not money.

Vanish really hits that nostalgic spot and the story behind is very bittersweet, I kinda think that she wrote it and singing it from Tony's wife POV and not the platonic friendship POV that has been theorized.

I think Mayhem shares both worlds, pop songs for the fans and mid tempo for the GP, which is fine.

I'm totally fine with Gaga being associated with ballads from this point on, pop music is changing all the time, people are looking for less dance pop now and Mayhem is a nice shift into that, she's growing up as a woman and as an artist, her music can't stay 23 forever.

I know  But imagine if DWAS isn't on the album right now, we have it smashing worldwide with Gaga's name but the song wouldn't be on her NEW album, wouldn't that be a bit weird/confusing? Maybe this decision was not purely made because of the numbers (although, a big part was the numbers ofc)

Fun fact, I just found out yesterday that uptown funk was from bruno mars  And Gaga cameo was the best part about Fat Juicy & Wet

At the end we're talking about AMERICAN pop music, it's all about the money, success and power, capitalism is THE American culture and even Gaga can't change that, won't change that and she's a big part of that and always has been since the beginning of her career

I mean, we're here discussing the success of people we don't even know and celebrates their achievements and how they millionaires, buying their music and merch, all the possible variants because the only thing they give u is either a bonus track that will be on youtube they day after or a different album cover that will be online in a better quality anyway.. while we barely can buy food and pay rent.

So we're the problem, they just exploit it and we give them the ok to do that every single time
