Add 3 songs to match 16 after removing DWAS and it may also show a different story.

Its just nonsense lol, okay lets remove DWAS from the count, its 9M with 13 songs, now to be fair and compare with CC since it has twice as many songs as Mayhem lets x2 our numbers, so itd be 18M, still more :flower:

Once again, we need a different charts thread for little complainers. Some ppl in here are overly negative and complaining all day every day. Get out!

Anyone saying Abra was a risky song needs to be checked. The songs DNA is literally comprised of Gaga’s biggest hits.

the issue is the ageism and mysigony of radio and has no bearing on the song. Nobody wants to admit it but that’s the truth.

Curious if you would subtract RoM from Chromatica numbers?

Why they chose to abandon the Mastercard contest idea and the new version of the Abracadabra video featuring fans is such a missed opportunity… That would have re-boosted interest and probably streams.

Maybe it’s still gonna come out at some point, but I feel like now would be the perfect time…

Who said it was abandoned?

They literally were rehearsing/fiming for it. Plus, it's a brand deal, whether Abra becomes a supermassive hit or not, it's a contractual obligation.

I think that ultimately DWAS was always intended to make its way onto gaga's album. I think that its strange that it wasn't marketed as the first single. But If you check on spotify, it was released through interscope. Its also on her youtube channel. Watt is a producer and writer. All that points towards DWAS obviously being intended for MAYHEM yet she did not call it a lead single. It is strange but it deserves to be on the album. It ultimately fits nicely as the closer too.

The song has, what? 2.1 billion streams? And the album as a whole has 2.7 billion streams? (If I'm reading y'alls' posts right, I don't do charts from other sources other than posts here xoxo). So literally 77% of the album's streams are from the Bruno collab :rip:

That song's only purpose on the album is to guarantee streams so I feel like it's fair to go at it for that tbh.

Bruno's a huge streaming force. His song became Gaga's biggest song and he pulled Rosé into the top streaming lists with a song that's streamed like 6 times her next biggest song.

The comparison to CC is weird 'cause Beyoncé didn't collaborate with any artists that are bigger than she is. But putting artists against each other is a weird thing to do anyway and it's why stupid decisions (like putting DWAS on Mayhem) are made. The competition for profits among the millionaire/billionaire class.

Can't Stop the High and Kill For Love are right there!

I'll take another track though :flower:

Maybe that ballad she was talking about 'cause Mayhem only having one real ballad makes me sad

Another audio close to 100M :tony:

It's also slowly approaching 700M on Spotify. I think it'll gain traction after her Coachella performance too

I think people just don't care for her pop music tbh.

The GP is interested in her enough to receive songs like Abracadabra warmly but they want more DWAS, Shallow, or ARUTW type songs.

Years old gripe but if they would have pushed ARUTW as a proper single it would have smashed  but I understand why Shallow was pushed instead. Both had similar potential but Shallow had Bradley and the song was initially pushed mainly to promote the movie.

If she can deliver a mid-tempo pop/rock song like these once or twice in an album era they can basically carry an album like DWAS is for Mayhem, freeing her up to do more fun stuff with the rest of the album that's less focused on driving sales and more so just to create something neat.

I've been saying this since the day it was announced DWAS was on the record. It was a brilliant move - whether you like the song or not. Whether it was intended for the album or not.

Mayhem will now outsell every album of hers except TF, TFM and BTW. Easily. And, more importantly, she gave us a KILLER album of insanely great songs. The charts and the arts? Well, both boxes checked.

This is also means her next album will most likely have a big budget, since Mayhem is a guaranteed money maker, and hopefully she can deliver another fantastic set of songs when the time comes.

And, yes, I hope one of those songs is as big as DWAS, too - for all the reasons I already listed.

And, yes, if it was to be that big it will probably have to be another ballad. So then we can do it all over again! (Thankfully I LOVE her ballads, including DWAS. So it's win/win for me.)

Abracadabra is #37 on this weeks Hot 100.

Oh freefallcadabra!!!

jokes aside, I hope it gets a grip soon with radio increasing. Its hard at this point but I wished it did not go below 40.

I'm sorry but bruno is not bigger than gaga :huntyga: They are at the bare minimum equals... and regardless of collaborating with bigger artists or not, Bey still has 14 collabs with no hits.

I wouldn't call it "brilliant" but that's 'cause I prefer artistic integrity over profit margins. I'm still very unhappy about it and probably will be until I die with a frown :huntyga:

It's hard for songs like that to balance being overly saccharine, cheesy, and a bit cringe (like DWAS) or emotional, sentimental, and moving (like ARUTW) but I wouldn't mind her pumping out some more of them :music: draw a bigger circle in the middle of the venn diagram of Monsters and Adele stans.

I'm so eager for this era to get moving again, I need some performances! We're like six months in and we've only had two songs performed, both on SNL :messga: it's a crime to let these songs sit here gathering dust :messga:
