Debra's sound is not popular on radio or streaming. It's a risky choice as a single, similar to Disease. She will do much better with VIY or GOE. Beyonce has nothing to do with this. There’s a reason why she said she’s considered old during her iHeart Radio speech. She’s aware of what’s going on… She’s never portrayed herself as a “sexy young woman” (she even looked quite old during TFM), it did work when she was the brand new it-girl but things have changed drastically in US charts since then… The call outs for both Disease and Abracadabra were great. Come on, even Shallow struggled on US radio, even though it’s one of the most impactful songs of the century… She can still sell an awful lot of singles/albums. But she needed Bruno to smash on US radio, because he’s a man and he’s seen as quite young and attractive. And even Die With A Smile needed six months of major domination for US radio to do it justice. The vocal chemistry, the sound, the 70s duo aesthetic, her little dance break, like she deserves credit too for that song, not just Bruno. I just said it’s unlikely to expect a Gaga song (no matter which one it is) to do amazingly will in US charts since US radio is the most important factor and she struggles with it.
