Do you know how many artists would kill for those numbers? If you dream with Gaga claiming the TS or Billie's throne, sorry but I have something to tell you... And if the issue is that you won't be able to brag in front of other fanbases well... 45M is a sign of an incredibly healthy career, specially if it shows legs. You guys need a reality check. Plus streams from us/Europe listeners using vpn’s* to change their time zone on Thursday, it’s probably over 50m if those were counted Edited March 9 by PlanetChromatica
Jessica Germ 1,802
Pretty people of GGD, isn’t it a bit wild to make first week sale predictions within the first 48 hours of an album being released? 1

There's some truth in this.....whisper pop slash folk pop, country (Morgan Wallen in particular), and rap/r & b dominate the US. Sabrina is like the one exception, but her label pushed her incredibly hard (that isn't to dismiss her talent, but her label pushed her so hard there were even some articles about it), and even then she as in the low 300s...which is still far behind a lot of rappers and Morgan Wallen. Even Bey's Cowboy Carter did like 70k more than Renaissance, and that's probably because Renaissance simply isn't the style of music that is super popular right now in the US. And Bey is an icon-don't get me wrong, as she's one of my favorites besides Gaga-but CC's 400k was kind of an exception. The Gift was under 200k and Renaissance was in the 300k...artists like the Weeknd are doing 450k with nearly no promo in comparison. And a lot of that can simply be chalked up to what type of music is popular in the US. I still maintain these are good numbers, as it is around the same as Ariana's Eternal Sunshine, though. And I was surprised by how the GP and casual fans seem to be eating it up (even if they aren't eating it up like Morgan Wallen).

Not really as they have access to presales and streaming, but the numbers are still on par with Ariana's latest, so it's good, and I wouldn't be shocked if it debuted over the prediction as HTTD routinely underestimates final sales.

Some people are going to have to use their elusive critical thinking skills before trashing US fans. Pop music is not the first nor second most popular genre in the US (country and rap are). And in the pop genre, lady gaga is not necessarily the most easy-listening nor most appreciated artist here. The US is huge and pretty incomparable to most other western countries in terms of the music industry. US gaga fans get drowned out by all the other popular artists here. Lighten up and stream the new album. Its a great body of work. Anything over 200k is excellent. 13 1

jacs vs looser 4,151
53 minutes ago, jimmytimestep said: girl i've bought three vinyls, have been streaming literally non stop since release, and will probably buy a digital copy from her website the US GP is honestly annoyed by us monsters because of how loud and passionate we are (same with the US Beyhive) and it turns them off from her, outside of seeing her live. I went to a friend's birthday party today and everyone are pop fans but none of them had listened to the album outside of my other monster friend, and she's a casual monster. Like I watched the Spotify press conference through Instagram, and the comments were all BEGGING for Playboy Carti to drop and being like "is this for Carti?" "Where is carti?" "Mayhem carti yaaas" and then Gaga showed up and they were like "wtf this is for lady gaga? where is carti?" rap/r&b just have a deeper grip on the GP here in the US. Pop isn't considered "cool" anymore. It honestly annoys me a lot that people here keep complaining about US monsters, when the real problem is that there aren't that many left. 1
Sepsami 18,022
I think people need to relax a little. We can say without a doubt that there is no one currently doing what Gaga is doing and shes still able to pull these big numbers, 15+ years into her career as a popstar. She is doing great and the album is amazing.
