Abra is still doing better than Rain On Me (#1 hit with a billion streams) , that's all that matters.

It's not though. For reference: Spotify users Q1 2020: 286 million, Q4 2024: 675 million, that's more than double, yet ABRA isn't even doing 50% more streams than ROM.

EDIT: Sorry, global numbers, not US only.

I saw some fans say Abra was initially not marketed as a single, could it be that it was intended to be just a promo single to rebuild hype for the era and have Vanish Into You come out with the album or a week before as the official second/third single? Might be the reason why so far we have 0 promo, was a Sunday release and was only sent to radio a week later after they saw it perform well. If so, then it would be the 4th time a promo single becomes the official second ( now kinda third ) single, first with TEOG, then DWUW and finally MR. Kinda cool if so!

I know we love to comment how messy Interscope is BUT this is not legit

No promo/buzz single would get a huge MV and that same MV being played as an ad during Grammys + all huge playlists on streaming platforms.

it was clearly marketed as a single

Are you sure that are the numbers for USA? Because that would be almost double the number of US citizens per Google:laughga:

Those sound like global numbers not USA. The US doesnt even have 400M people so how can it have 675M users?

But either way I get ur point. I made the same argument, that spotify usage has grown considerably since 2020 so conparing numbers side by side like that isnt entirely apples to apples

But i got dragged. I think ppl will just believe what they wanna believe

Looking at total SPS or relative chart rankings to other songs gives a more approximate idea to compare performance not just streaming numbers of a single platform

Yeah, you're right, it's global numbers, sorry :fan:

I used Spotify as reference because it's what is easier to find, and despite other platforms also growing, it is the largest one and gives you a decent idea of how numbers have changed.

I'm sorry you got dragged, but unfortunately like you said, people will believe what they want.

Spanish Eyes

Honestly, if Abracadabra can just hit top 10 during album release week, I’m fine with it. I wish it would see the grand commercial success that it deserves given how incredible it is, but with 17 years in the game, I’m not upset if Gaga can’t really get an unequivocal solo smash with the same ease as her 20s. I think the tour is gonna be the big indicator of her vitality as a pop icon, anyway.

My view on Gaga stanning is “music, THEN the bling.” She did the most important thing — craft a genuinely good dark pop banger with an amazing video. The music/art comes first, and then the accolades and commercial success can follow, but if it doesn’t, we’ll be ok. I know we’re in the chart thread — I obviously find charts fun — but I don’t think chart stats should detract from our overall enjoyment of the music.

Apparently you can’t say Abra is not an absolute smash hit in this thread 😅.

You’re point was dead right, but overly positive fans don’t wanna see the real numbers.

Like sure, Abra is maybe doing better than ROM. But if we make the adjustment taking the apps growth its not the slay ya’ll think it is. If its performing better its by a very slight margin.

At this point, DWAS might be on IFPI Global Singles twice - 2024 and 2025.

On a side note: DWAS MV on YT is now at 699.8m streams, just a few thousand more to reach 700m streams :vegas:

DWAS will appear on IFPI 2026 for sure (2025 #1 on lock)

The question is if it will end top 10 or top 20.
