I still didn't listen to the songs (3h15 til its out in my country). Would you say that overall the album is mostly pop or more rock/hard-hitting? Please don't go into details just tell me pop or rock/hard hitting :cryga:

Curious about Can’t Stop The High, Gaga said it goes harder than Perfect Celebrity and it’s also I believed placed at 5 in the tracklist order. So maybe the ones that wanted more hard hitting songs will love this one! And also Kill For Love! I have a feeling she might have anticipated some of the reactions and these two will be hard hitting as some expected!

i really do not like Killah :messga: im unfamiliar with Gesaffelsteins work but i was so confused with what the production was doing. When people said he worked with the Weeknd i was hoping for a Take My Breath kinda song, but this one? its a no from me. Just sounded like a big mess. i mean the first half sounded decent but the last part? wtf

I love the whole album completely but I need to come in and defend the LoveDrug - HBDUWM - Don’t Call Tonight run.

Those songs are SOOO much fun to listen to - total joyous pop and it’s needed on this record. Disease through to Vanish Into You goes SO hard, it’s nice to move into the funkier Killah and Zombieboy and then those three.

In another life, Don’t Call Tonight is a classic number one hit from 40 years ago that is on every throwback hits playlist. And yet it still sounds so fresh. It also transitions into Shadow soooooo well.

Gesaffelstein does very dark industrial analogsynth sounds, i think the most similar parts on mayhem to his personal work are the perfect celebrity intro and GOE outro. But yeah killah seems very unexpected from this collab even for people familiar with his work

Gesaffelstein didn’t produce Take My Breath. He was only involved with My Dear Melancholy‘s I Was Never There, Hurt You and their single Lost in the Fire.

Head Empty

In my opinion most of the album isn't comparable to her previous work. Abracadabra is an exception in that regard. I feel like her songwriting style has changed quite a lot since Chromatica.

The music isn't as focused on just having one big central hook, as it was in the past. There are catchy hooks on Mayhem for sure, but the lyrics and the production are very rich and detailed all the way through every song. It makes the music a little less structured or formulaic - for better or worse depending on who you ask.

Does that make sense?

I have not heard it yet. I have heard most of GOE in lofi, the singles and a couple clips. I am frothing over every clip and description.

as far as those hating or criticizing here’s my take. Every one is entitled to an opinion, and-

I have had albums, songs (even LG) and artists where at first I’m like the Kombucha lady frowning and grimacing. And then eventually I get into it. So my two cents is it may be a grower for some.
