Gaga is slightly over selling the “genre defying” description or mayhem. Also, the Song she previewed in Paris (Abracadabra and Perfect Celebrity), are much more industrial and hard hitting than the rest of the album. Indicative or the sound? Yes, but no other songs go in that direction. this is also not a Cowboy Carter situation where you’ll find completely different genres and deliveries across songs. The direction changes in Mayhem are sutil and infused into the songs production. Not one single song makes a jump from pop music to something different. This is a a pop-guided record. A pure pop base, with ocasional dabs in industrial pop/EDM, funk rock, adult contemporary ballads and bubble-gum pop. You won’t find a pure EDM, or pure FUNK or JAZZ or any stand alone genre. Its always pop with an infusion.

Y'all this is one of her best works. Production is amazing, all of the songs are so rich in sound. 

I'm happy everything sounds different from eachother. 

The critics will eat this up, while her fans will probably be so critical, because they start to get the sounds of Abracadabra / Disease so they expect the whole album to be as dark. No no no loves, that's not how it works. 

Expectations needs to get lower by many of you, you put it so high that everything that does not exceed your expectations will sound bad.

I only just got to Vanish Into You but HOLY HELL THIS ALBUM IS SO GOOOOOOOOD.

Edit: Maybe I'm easily impressed but every song hits. Fantastic album. This feels like a natural progression from Chromatica somehow.

My immediate favorite is Perfect Celebrity.

It literally is

In my opinion because most people associate dark pop with electronic music and noise sound, when in reality it is not like that. Dark Pop is a type of easy listening pop music that deals with heavy topics.
