MAYHEM: The Official Discussion Thread (Act II) It’s MAYHEM in here 👹

ROHKEUS

I feel like everytime she releases an album the so-called fans are the first to leave some nasty comments, and I'm not even on social media, places that run on hate.
Anyways, my perspective is that the album is the culmination of her artistry, I see what she means when she said on Zane Lowe that her focus always have been on studying, being a student. Even when you see some aspects of a song that reminds of another era, it has so many layers that creates a fresh sound. I think the only song that didn't hit me so well was Garden of Eden, I believe the flow of the song is compromised by its duration, there's some parts that could work better idk. Regarding the aesthetics, it is challenging to create a cohesive aesthetic for an album like this. The visuals of each song could contribute to a better understanding, but I believe the criticism in this area is valid as it can create different expectations.
In conclusion, this is the best album for me since BTW, which holds a special place in my heart due to nostalgia. I believe it will grow on me even more and eventually become my favorite.

In love with chaos depressed by fate.

Are there any skips on the album? Aka any Enigmas/Fun Tonight? :ladyhaha:

Yes :kry:

I'm on my second full listen and How Bad Do U Want Me actually sounds worse on the second listen :kry:

Who told her to put that horrible song on an otherwise immaculate album?! :grr:

die with a skip🧍‍♂️

I haven't heard anyone say it so I hope I'm not alone in this. I am having a hard time identifying her voice in Shadow of a Man. I know for sure she is singing and definitely tapping on a different tone for her but it just sounds so much like Christina. I don't mean this in a bad way, it is an incredible vocal take and the fact that she can sound so sexy and commanding on such a hard hittting song.

Mhmmm I can't see the Xtina thing there but I do agree with you. She's definitely approaching new ways of singing on this album. Imo she was even starting to let us know that change with Happy Mistake.

Love the growth, both musically and in terms of voice. It would be kinda lame if she stayed the same way as in previous works

I just finished a couple listens and phew what a journey. Just from the album cover and aesthetic I thought most of it would be like Disease, Abracadabra and Perfect Celebrity but it's such a surprise in a good way. She was right with the "You think you know what you're getting into but then you don't". I can hear a lot of Bowie, Prince, MJ and maybe even Madonna? influences.

Killah is so unique and completely different to what I expected it to sound like, The Beast is so dreamy kind of like So Happy I Could Die. Zombieboy and Garden of Eden are like The Fame in 2025 so campy. Shadow of a Man is obviously very MJ, great song. I need more listens. I'm in a bit of a shock right now, I'm scared because it's new and different to what I expected but there are no bad songs in here. I just need more listens, Disease and Abracadabra didn't click for me the first couple times and then I became obsessed with them. This is easily Top 3 after Born This Way and The Fame Monster, could even switch places with TFM with time. A much stronger record than Chromatica and Joanne, you can hear her PASSION again.

So I gave in and flew to NZ using VPN airlines while working, so the first few listens I could pay full attention, but it felt a bit disappointed. I really expected more heavy and uptempo tracks like Disease and Abracadabra.

However, it has started to grow already. Love the production. Her vocals are awesome! And everyone saying DWAS doesnt fit, you are wrong:cheeky:

Highlights for now: Abra: the dark pop banger of the album

Disease: love for how heavy and dirty it is

Perfect Celebrity: wish it went a bit harder but love it

Shadow of a Man: love love live this one, but I completely expected something else based on the snippet

And of course. The it of the album: HOW BAD DO YOU WANT ME! It is giving me Taylors Gorgeous, but Gagafied and I love it

Still not into Killah…

If she tweaked the production it would fit but if she did it would have been another version and out with the DWAS numbers :traumatica:

Judas is coming. Let the cultural baptism begin.

It’s beautiful, absolutely a shining gem in her discography. Such a varied and expansive journey of sounds and emotions it’s just so :legend:

anyone expecting an entire album of abracadabra’s has clearly never listened to a word this woman has said.

Put your paws all over me

I don't know if this is the best place to post this, but I'm extremely disappointed at the fan reactions to the album so far on Reddit and Twitter.

So so many negative reactions, which is truly turning me off. I haven't even listened to the album as it only comes out in the UK in 8 hours, but I'm so disgusted at how negative fans have been so far.

Yes, everyone's entitled to their own opinions but if you're a truly Lady Gaga fan you should perhaps be a little more respectful and understanding, and also respectful to other fans who haven't had the opportunity yet to listen to album :(

P.s. it's also my fault that I was nosey and checked my socials but still...

P.p.s. can someone assure me that the album is actually good? 😭 I'm so sad seeing the negative reactions so far

Don’t worry, the album is good. There’s a lot of 80s influence maybe that’s what is throwing people off. In a way is banger after banger.

I feel you! I wouldn't call it a skip with HBDUWM, I like that one, but I do have that opinion on Don't Calle Tonight :traumatica: the second half of the song is greeeat tho

TeaHaus

I’ve heard some leaks and so far

LoveDrug

How Bad Do U Want Me

Dont Call Tonight

… meh

But mind you I’m listening without bass and no clarity. But if Can’t Stop This High is more intense than perfect celebrity and she made it a physical exclusive … it’s like WHY ?!

otherwise this is such a good electro funk record. The visuals are a little misleading but I can’t stop humming Zombieboy and Perfect Celebrity and GOE .. WOW
