America is in total chaos and having an album called Mayhem during that time is a great idea. + the outake is a bit simple/looks indie but interesting and different for Gaga

Addison Rae

i like how the cover is a slight nod to the fame monster but its evolved, not just relying on nostalgia.

I really like the album cover a lot.

It brings to life these lyrics so perfectly:

I feel so crazy
My head is filled with broken mirrors
So many, I can't look away
I'm in a bad way
If I could fix the broken pieces
Then I'd have a happy mistake

A lonely disposition
Portraits of a strung-out girl
How'd I get so addicted
To the love of the whole world?

It's not as visually striking as Chromatica's album cover but I almost think I prefer it to that. It feels more conceptual in a very real and meaningful way. Absolutely not to discredit the Chromatica cover at all (I love it) but, looking back, and especially knowing how she felt at the time about being 'Gaga', there's something quite insincere about it. Almost as though she felt she had to capture that Gaga essence again, without fully believing in it (which we know was the case). The concept was to 'be Lady Gaga again'. Whereas this cover's concept feels incredibly authentic and real - it is showing us Stefani looking at herself broken but with a strength and defiance in her eyes. The blurriness I think shows us her confronting the chaos (or Mayhem...) of "Lady Gaga".

I also think there's something very bold about flipping the script and doing something unexpected. She was never going to be able to top the extremeness or 'Gaga-ness' of the Chromatica cover. And if she tried, it wouldn't have worked. This cover is dark and eerie but in a very realistic and grounded way. Most fan art is OTT and high camp and often teeters on pastiche. This feels real and artistic and not like Gaga is doing fan service (which I kind of felt was the case with the "Disease" MV in places, so it's interesting this cover goes in the opposite direction). Fan service is great btw but Gaga is an artist and I want to see her genuine vision, which this feels like it is.

Ooh that's cool, but I feel like it's probably AI, I feel like I've seen it on Twitter before

It's not AI sis. This is pulled directly from gaga's website :udidnt: We are truly moving, we just don't know if this is somo promo pic or the actual cover.
