Are you really telling people to act with empathy in response to a speech where Trump openly stated he was about to invalidate the identity and protections of every Trans person in the US.

A speech where he bragged about robbing children of their citizenship and deporting them.

Like yeah the Democrats are ****. And many users have criticised them for it.

Its ****ing insane to tell people who are afraid that their lives are going to be destroyed by executive orders literally being signed and coming into force today that they need to be empathetic to their abusers.

Would you tell victims of SA or DV to show empathy to their abuser?

Ok then don't have empathy at all, radicalize yourself till the point you can't even share the same spaces with thise who don't thinķ like you and get ready for civil war, is that what you wanna hear?

Have you heard of reciprocity? If you show empathy you will be more likely to receive it back and get agreementsand mutual respect, if you act like a radical by impossing your way to see the world to everyone, trust me the other side will radicalize even more in consequence

Anyways, empathy is not easy to have but it's the only way to see why other people have the opinion they own and try to educate them or get educated by them in the process

No one says it was gonna be easy, but the only sustainable changes for good in the world were made throught based on it

God bless

Sweetie that **** didn’t work the first time. Many people tried to have empathy for the other side because being amicable was supposedly the only way to change their opinions. Now they feel more emboldened and are villainizing minorities, women, LGBTQ+, the list goes on and on. They  don’t care to change and are so rotted to their core on actually having empathy for other people.

I don’t know why this is the hill you are choosing to die on. Conservatives don’t ****ing care.

Amazing how its always the people being abused being told to shut up and play nice.

Its not their fault they are hitting you, its your fault for making them hit you.

You just press their buttons and wind them up until they can't stop themselves.

I can't believe anyone would ask you to build bridges with people who empowered a man that literally says "you don't have a right to exist, you don't have a right to safety, you have no home here".

Maybe if the Jews were a little nicer to the Nazis then the Holocaust wouldn't have happened :vegas:

Maybe if black Americans just talked it out with the KKK there wouldn't have been as many lynchings and decades of cruel laws :vegas:

Maybe if the queer folks that died from AIDS and gay bashing just said "pwetty pwease" to the US government we wouldn't have only got (near) equal rights just a short 15ish years ago :vegas:

Maybe if all those Puerto Rican women in the 1950s were just a little kinder they wouldn't have been mass sterilized :vegas:

If you're just NICE and LISTEN to the people who think the lie that grocery prices will come down matters more than your very humanity then you'll be happy :vegas:

Yay for President Trump :vegas:

Imma die on this hill cuz history has proven over and over it's  the only way to reach significative changes that last

Do you think Gandhi, Luther King or Mandela achieved their goals with radicalism and hating speeches or with their ability to express their needs while also being able to be tolerant and empathic

Demonizing others will only bring more intolerance, you know that

Both halves are obligated to understand each other, for good or for bad

God bless you

No they're not. This is a very idealist mindset that will never (and cannot) happen or sustain itself in reality.

This didn't happen 'cause Democrats don't understand MAGAs. This happened 'cause Americans don't understand reality lol.

We can't afford to normalize and make friends idiocy and bigotry.

Don't forget Trump lost all of those four/six years ago as well except for the SCOTUS due to its lifetime appointment bullsh*t.

I don't care about that. I don't identify with either party and I think the House, the Senate, the WH, and SCOTUS are all subservient to the interests of rich and influential corporations and families, not the median American worker. Are they useful in a vacuum? Yes, but we're not in a vacuum, we live in a (very) flawed democracy that doesn't work for anyone but the top 0.1%.

Trump winning may be tragic, but it was also tragic that people trusted Biden to change things and he did absolutely nothing. Now, the Democrats are smiling and drinking champagne while poor people starve and are sent to war. If "winning" those corrupt institutions is your best case scenario, your bar is pretty damn low.

I would be very pleased to see what are the  solutions you bring to the table then, cuz if you don't trust the democratic institutions guess anarchy and supervicence of the strongest is the the only way left

If your only alternatives to these so-called "democratic" institutions is outright anarchy, then again, your bar is very low. The two-party system makes us believe the only way of changing things is by religiously voting for one of them every two or four years and celebrating or crying interchangeably, as if that changed anything. The policies of both parties are very similar in broad strokes, especially when talking about helping the poor and foreign policy. So excuse me if I doubt the value of my vote. Any electoral result in this context is bad for everyone.

So where do we turn to? We must, first of all, study why this is the case. There are myriad of authors that lived the consequences of this system first hand, and are intelligent enough to provide a rich analysis as to how to view it and how to proceed.

Second of all, find community outside the two-party system. Listen to workers from all walks of life: independent, democrats, republicans, whatever. What are their complaints? What do they want, what do they need? You'll find their responses to be surprisingly alike, even if they aren't politically aligned in the two-party system.

Next step, ask yourself: why is this the case? Why is it that many workers around the country believe and want the same things, or very similar things, despite them being so divided? Going deeper than the "cultural battle" issues like gender and similar stuff, which are often very superfially analyzed by "both sides", you'll find many workers around the US want a peaceful life, a way of being financially secure, a way to provide for their families and friends, a way to know for sure that things are being discussed in government, a deeper relationship with local and national politicians. None of the two parties can provide these for a multitude of reasons, even if they tried (which they won't).

Now, you may want to read and investigate as to why this is the case. What do they have in common? They're working class people. They're not rich, they're members of the proletarian class. They need a job to survive. No job, no food, even if they get paid US$1 million per month, if they didn't get paid that, they would eventually run out of food and provisions. Why? Because they are not the owners of the means of production, ie of any company of any kind, so they have no way of getting pasive income. This is the case for 99% of the US population.

So, why are they poor? Was this the case only in recent years or is it a common trend throughout US history? Why's that? Those should serve as questions to start your investigative journey. But you shouldn't stop there. There's nothing useful in holding knowledge only for yourself. Knowledge cannot be proven if it's not confronted to alternative sources, either. So you must discuss these problems with working class people, gather their opinions, their thoughts, their reflections on both everyday life and high-class philosophical concepts. But that's still not enough, because what is that if not a selfish journey of discovery? You should seek like-minded people and investigate about how to organize!

The only way of fully taking advantage of your individual potential is to exert it in a group setting and learn from others that want the same things as you, or similar. If you're at work, talk to your coworkers about unions. If you're outside work or don't feel safe doing it alone, look for an organization that believes the same way you do. Not necessarily a political party, it could be an NGO, or a social organization of any kind.

Do something, get out and meet the common people, be curious, explore. There's a whole world out there outside of the two parties that the two parties don't want you to know about. There's more democracy in a chapter meeting of the CPUSA than in the whole Senate, that I can guarantee.

Girl can y’all just lower the damn presidency minimum age and requirements to be president. I think a big part of this is because all these old white men from rich families and who’ve lived sheltered lives…

Let the country be ruled by a 35 year old who’s never been to college and spent years of his life working for tips. Or a 30 year old girl who’s a single mam and can’t barely get a moment to herself.

Let actual normal people run your country, the same goes for every country tbh.

It's not an age issue. It's a class issue. They'll never let a poor, working-class person be president. And if they did, they wouldn't let them do anything while in office.

Man. I caught a bit of Kamala speaking about the LA fires and just...f*ck, man. What is wrong with this goddamn country. We could have had a real leader.

I wish her nothing but the best and success in every endeavor she goes for. She gave hope to millions of US who feared the worst and now the worst is on the horizon.

I hope she stays in the spotlight a bit to continue giving us hope.

Yeah that’s the truth, I mean hasn’t the US Senate or House or whatever you guys call it in the US been predominantly Republican for like decades?

also sorry this is a long read but I need to rant;

From an outside perspective American law and life runs based on whether or not big businesses approve of something, you guys won’t give out free healthcare for example because it means the US medical businesses and pharmaceutical companies would lose billions and they fund most of the people who run the country- the fact that you can advertise drugs at random on TV for example is crazy to me that’s literally illegal here in the UK.

Also don’t get me started on this whole Constitution thing Americans hold so dear it has so many plot holes and such a mucky history people forget about.

it’s laws were made up by men from hundreds of years ago and doesn’t account for societal evolution whatsoever. For example the right to bare arms was established when weaponry wasn’t capable of committing mass murder in public schools, buildings and shopping malls, it was back when guns shot one round and had to be reloaded and much like most of the constitution it also existed to keep slaves as slaves for example, the right to bare arms and protect oneself was because if black slaves ever rebelled or fought back white people had the right to kill them. That’s also why the police force was invented in modern history; to police slaves after slavery was abolished. Free speech was established so that people could mistreat native Americans, slaves and workers without comeback… There’s even a right to not be subject to cruel punishment but yet they spent decades murdering and torturing native Americans, slaves and more.

All this comes back to racism and colonialism in the end, Donald Trump won because of racism and people being too lazy to think for themselves. Point blank period.
