Tiktok ruined music for me. There's nothing i like anymore. Artists just don't put the effort into taking good songs. It's all about making stupid songs for TikTok which become super viral but we're still gonna forget a year later.

You guys should see this as an opportunity. Idk about you but i loved the internet way more when tiktok wasn't around. 

I remember when people would listen to real music made by real artists. There are so many viral tiktok songs but i couldn't name a single artist who made them. They're completely uneventful.

I also remember when our feeds were all different. Now it seems like everyone sees the same stuff.

AI probably wouldn't have been that popular if every person on TikTok didn't see videos about it.

It definitely made a lot of damage to our culture and society. It's important to see this side too.

170 million people would disagree. For people complaining about how the app shortened attention spans, a lot of y'all sure are short sighted and self centered (not you in particular, but some others against the ban). It's not a secret that life has been hard for a lot of people since the pandemic in 2020. And this was a coping mechanism, even if it was just stupid cat/dog/pet videos. Even if it was just mindless dancing. It was a form of escapism for people who worked 60 hours weeks for their families, who went home to almost nothing but still had a simple joy. To the 15 year old kid that got relentlessly bullied at school, but could go home, watch some videos, and possibly connect with somebody. To the 15 year old boy that's scared he's gay, scared to admit it to himself, and scared his own family will take his life if he admitted it to them; but he can go on Tik Tok and find a supportive community. I think a whole lot of you do not take the time to recognize that things like Tik Tok save people's lives, even if it wasn't informational. Which it is, both factually and with misinformation. But all apps are like that and censoring people is not the way to go about it. I would rather the 15 year old gay child be alive, even if it meant The Billboard Hot 100 is full of garbage for the rest of my life. And that's before we touch on Facebook's proven electioneering in 2016 and Twitter's electioneering in 2024. Or the fact that we're just straight up lengthening the list of censorship and banned items daily.

This would've made sense if it was quality expressions you're talking about. But it's not.

TikTok generates low-quality content that impeaches into other areas of our lives without adding much meaning to it. It's one of the lowest forms of entertainment and is incomparable to other forms of content that require deliberate crafting like music, movies, video games, or even YouTube videos.

Not your place to judge. I think you fully underestimate the amount of people that have been encouraged to come out or escape abusive relationships because of the app. I find it interesting that you mention Youtube videos considering they are considered low quality content by Hollywood. Video games were the Tik Tok of the 80s/90s. Music has been in decline for 70 years at this point, according to Boomers. Movies too.
