I knew Blinding Lights would probably take it, but I'm noticing a notable omission - Sail by Awolnation. I immediately went looking for that because I remember that song set a record for one of the highest amount of weeks in the Hot 100. It only peaked at #17 but was a massive slow burner and reached that peak after 2+ years on the charts and has one of the highest amount of weeks of all time. Sure enough, I looked it up and it charted for 79 weeks overall, behind Radioactive by Imagine Dragons (87 weeks), Blinding Lights (90 weeks) and Heat Waves by Glass Animals (91 weeks). Yet, there's no mention of it in this top 100 list. Blinding Lights is obviously at #1, Heat Waves is at #17 and Radioactive is at #67. So, what's going on? Surely 79 weeks of charting overall is enough to get you at #100 at least?

It might make a list like this eventually but its too new. Its commulative success has not yet reached enough to be among biggest songs of all time

But where it spent that time on the chart also matters.

 

If many weeks the somg was between #60 and #100, thats not a lot of chart points each week. The nunber of weeks on its own doesnt tell u the full story
