Morphine Prince 109,926
Seeing the footage from the past two days is insane. I can’t even begin to imagine being in the situation some people are in.

SevenWonder 4,777
Thanks for all the well wishes. The Sunset Fire seems to be contained, so I ended up staying put. I have my bags packed and ready should things change. My partner took his mother (who is ailing) to a friend's house in Orange County. I'm on dog duty for the night. Me and the sweetest pup ever, Rudy, are hanging out together, watching Gilmore Girls and trying not to think about anything. You guys are the best, btw. Just being able to express a little fear and anxiety to you all really helped calm me down. Truly, truly, thank you. I just hope we're all out of the woods for good. OnFireTheseDays 385
Omg been watching this on the news from the UK and my heart goes out to everyone affected by this it’s horrifying. Doesn’t matter how much money you have or how big your house is no one deserves to see their properties and homes burning to the ground. Thinking of everyone there and I hope these fires can be controlled as soon as possible. Thinking of the firefighters trying to get these fires under control too

Watching the videos and images this is next level out of an apocalyptic film. So sad 😞
GagaTheExplorer 3,053
Why is this so common? They need to stop building in risky areas, tge country is big enough

This means our hills and normally grassy areas are only dry brush/dead grass. We also get really horrible winds called Santa Ana winds often, especially in the hills/ canyon. Wind speeds can reach 80 mph, and when one fire has started, the wind blows fire embers far away and starts a new fire. Its mainly bc we do not get enough rain, so our vegetation is dry and easy to light on fire. Paired with the powerful winds, it causes the fire embers to travel farther ans start new fires. The wind is probably 90% of the problem here. We get multiple wildfires a year, usually in summer/fall. Sometimes its arson, sometimes its started by someones cigarette and sometimes the winds cause the powerlines (located in the hills) to spark. Vimo 1,770
It's starting to feel suspicious. How can that much fires start at the same time targetting the same demographics?

RAMROD 117,977
Hope fellow Angelenos and their pets here are safe from harm and can have somewhere to go to. I have evacuated my dad far before this, cos the fire keeps spreading. Lost 2 houses but that's OK, we can always build them back. Currently living in my place in Atlanta until everything calmed down, and we're going to have snow storm this weekend.
