You just need to listen to 2024‘s biggest hits and you‘ll have your answer. It‘s simply not the sound that works (commercially speaking) atm. The GP is mostly here for light mid-tempos, ballads and rather soft/uplifting melodies… Birds Of A Feather, Good Luck Babe, Espresso, DWAS, Beautiful Things… The current sound that sells just ain‘t dark electro pop… 

But who knows: with the right song, she may shift the trend…

the Disease quality for heavy dark dance pop song is  very high.

And the qualities of most songs has unfortunetely nothing to do with charts performance.

Like someone else said, I can see this going the way of Brat. Von Dutch the lead single only has 143 million streams, just above disease and it's been out for a year but the album and select songs from the album have done better and the album as a whole has had a massive cultural impact. I don't think smash lead singles matter as much anymore.

I love the song. I prefer darker sounds.

But the radio don't and tbh without going viral on TikTok the song didn't stand a chance.

Physicals for week 1, more of a push could have secured a Top 10 debut. But Disease was never going to smash outside of niche genre charts.

Ppl said the same when BR, Judas came out 

But the fact that there are many interesting layers, explorative vocals and genres blending make it a very qualitative song. 

Many ppl didn't like the lyrics, some said it's too flat but I doesn't agree. I think that the lyrics are good tho. There's religious themes, it's introspective, there's the themes of medecine. Some ppl got confused abt that, but Gaga's inner voice try to seduce her, that's why y'all found these lyrics sensual lol. What I retain from this song is that the antidote comes from the poison.  

But I got to agree with Fantano's critic abt this song, this isn't enough anthemic because this isn't a traditional Gaga type of chorus. In BR we have the "Rah-Rah-Roma-ma-ma", Poker Face "Po-po-po-poker face, po-po-fck her face". But in Disease we have "Ah-ah-ah" in the backing vocals but no tradition onomatopoeias.

My gosh... why you are trying to make something out of Disease, which it absolutely not is?

It's not a good Single, not a mainstream sound, and not good enough out of the box sound and lyrics at all. It was not succesful in the past, it isn't now and it won't be in the future.

It's not compareable to Alejandro or Paparazzi, as somebody wrote already, they were still massive hits for this time, maybe you are blended by Millenium Hits Poker Face or Bad Romance here.

And finally, Disease was not impacted by DWAS success. Do you really think people stop listening to artist new released singles because they already still listen to older ones with better airplay? If a Song is good, you listen to it without any tactical or Charts performance thoughts, if not you don't. You should not forget that 99% of the buyers and streamers of music Songs are not in the gagadaily world and not into statistics, hypes or anything else you publish here.

Sit back and relax for single #2 and the Album. Will it be more successful? We don't know, but we will see...

tiktok is just as, if not way more effective and miles cheaper than a live performance

it's very clear labels aren't worried about single performances for their big acts anymore and with gaga already having 2 massive gigs confirmed this year, i think interscope is very confident in the tour and album

Yea because everyone and their mothers was shitting on her for working with dr luke again, even big headlines on the topic. Besides I'd imagine if the music was any good she'd do better numbers, on the other hand,  had she done what Gagz is doing.. even bigger floppery.

I’m been a fan since the start. Every lead single I’ve loved. Disease wasn’t it.  I don’t even have it on Apple Music cause I really don’t like the song. Something was missing. Gaga is known for her abaesque choruses and build ups but it wasn’t there.  The timing was too slow or something.  Can’t put my finger on it.  If I didn’t like it as a lad Gaga fan then I’m sure the gp definitely wouldn’t like it so much. I’m not delusional and I like the music. I won’t just fall in love with a song cause it’s my favourite artist singing it. I can’t defend the song. Even my sister said it was trash. She likes all her music too.  Gaga has changed I think.  I don’t think she has it in her to produce the perfect hits anymore. Could be restricted by bossy producers.  Not sure.  If lg7 is a damp squid like disease then I’m unstanning. I’ve wasted too much time being excited and checking social media and this site for updates.  It’s been like 12 years since she had a fantastic album. If she doesn’t make lg7 a success I feel like I won’t be the only one that’s had enough.  I mean that in terms of great classic pop tunes not chart success.

I listen to the radio every day, at home and at work and here in Croatia I have never heard Disease being played on radio.
