Don't take me wrong, the song is beautiful, I understand why it struck a chord with the masses but it just feels like Gaga is becoming a victim of her success (post-Shallow) where she's really accepted and appreciated for her adult contemporary music, so to say.

Disease, in the meantime, an outstanding Gaga track is kinda left with our fandom in the trenches, struggling to make an impact and remind the world what makes Gaga, well Gaga, despite all the "I'm not one thing" talk that she's been pushing for years.

This situation made me realise that her success in the late 00s with TF/TFM was rather an exception than a sure formula to get you to the top. I certainly hope that Gaga will not let the success of this style of music dictate her future exploration of the musical genres. In a way, I feel like she'll remain misunderstood by the masses.

Why should we worry? Shallow was 6 years ago and I would say Chromatica was a success given the circumstances, a completely different genre

I agree with all of these takes lol. Yes, this clearly shows how the selective feel of the public towards her is unfortunately winning. Yes, having both is nice. And yes, having all the things we got in 2024 shows her diversity. Honestly all takes are correct in my eyes.

I wouldn't say that... APT. Is big but not as big as DWAS and you have Bruno + kpop fans. DWAS is a really good song and that's why it has the longevity it has. We'll see if APT has the same longevity (it's still in my head but for some reason it's getting annoying, probably because I had it on replay way too much at some point)

An absolutely amazing feat, considering how music video views on YouTube have been dying a death for a good few years now. DWAS wasn't even the biggest hit of the year, yet it's one of the most viewed and liked videos of the year, which shows you how much people went out of their way to seek it out because they liked it so much, and with a simple video, at that. It's her 9th most viewed music video specifically, about to become her 8th. I do the update to her video stats every 2 weeks and this video has been providing me so much to update with recently in her downtime. The views and likes just keep growing, it's crazy, but I won't question a miracle. Wish it would rub off on Disease but be grateful for small mercies in this stage of Gaga's career.

I know how you feel, I think the song is good but not amazing either. It's a very safe, GP friendly choice so of course it was destined to become a hit to some degree even if it doesn't set our monster hearts on fire. But for a major recording artist like Gaga, sometimes these things need to be done to maintain success and relevancy as the years go by. Gaga's approaching 40 and clearly wants to take a break soon. At these status, we have to be grateful for every piece of success she gets. Her contemporaries always start declining commercially at this point, so if she can still get hits, this bodes well for her future music production and legacy. By continuing to deliver the goods, even if it's with adult contemporary and jazz albums, she'll continue to be supported by Interscope and facilitated in creating and releasing music (that her fans want), touring, promoting. If songs like these becoming hits keep her name out there and allow her to keep making and prioritising music, we can enjoy her output for years to come. LG7 is going to be a pop album, she's told us that. It's where her heart will always be.
