Yeah in Portugal (where Im also from) it has been huge as well, bigger than in Canada. It was #1 on spotify from early on and stayed there for several weeks at about 40% more streams than song at #2 and it caught on radio almost right away while in Canada only in late November they finally started playing it more (at least in my area)

 

In Portugal its only not #1 now because some huge artist there (Plutonio) released and his top songs are even bigger and have been blocking DWAS ever since but DWAS is still doing super well, just not enough to beat Plutonios insane numbers 

 

I find it weird that a ballad is doing better in Europe than North America considering the stereotype is her Country or Ballad songs do better in USA & Canada and her electro and synth pop do better in Europe

 

How is disease doing there?

Disease was the “Alarmschijf”, so the song in power rotation in the first week. And I think it has spent 6 weeks in the top 40, but then it was out. Which is not bad for a pop song by Gaga in the Netherlands, since she always struggles here normally, but still it is disappointing. However for example APT rose to #3 this week

I didnt realize her pop songs struggle there. But then her ballads do super well? Random

She has always struggled with her pop songs here. I think her only songs that went #1 are JD, PF, BTW and DWAS. Then her higest peaks are for Paparazzi and Alejandro at #4, Shallow 5, Telephone 6, ROM 7 and even Bad Romance peaked at 10…

Disease peaked at 25, but for example HMH peaked at 28, but was on the chart for 8 weeks. And ARUTW peaked at 16, but was on the list for 21 week. SL and PI never even charted at all

EDIT: I’m still VERY optimistic about this week though  

I know one time was 1 or 2 points. The other time I dont remember what the gap was but it was not this large, not even close

After that her popularity dropped a fair bit here and the chart history is less impressive, at best matching USA, sometimes lower.

 

She did not get any top 10s in Joanne, SL charted lower than US at #7

 

She did have a #1 Rain On Me tho, and I think Shallow may have gone #1 as it did well but im not sure. I feel like theres a #1 she got in US but not Canada, if so it would have been shallow but I forget where Shallow peaked here.

I remember there was a poll here on GGD around 2014-2015 where it was like Do you think Gaga can spawn a top 40 hit, top 10 hit, top 5 hit or number one single again? And if I remember correct like 80% of the votes were on top 40. I were one of those that voted for top 5 because I always believed in her.

That will likely change with enough time tho.

Yeah i think commercially at least DWAS will definitely surpass it and at this rate also one day be her most viewed video on youtube as well

That Gracie song is rising fast so who knows in coming weeks. Its not a threat this week yet because of radio gap but in could be soon
