hieronymus 9,745 Posted yesterday at 02:47 PM Share Posted yesterday at 02:47 PM That's so ridiculously soon. It's held the #2 movie in the country for weeks. It's still taking in like $20m+ weekly. I guess they're trying to capitalize on the anti-theatre/pro-home viewing sentiment with on-demand rentals.
AMRer 3,085 Posted yesterday at 02:55 PM Share Posted yesterday at 02:55 PM (edited) This is crazy... Not even successful movies escape. They are killing the theatre experiencie even when they still make money out of it. I can't not imagine the billions it implies to send it to streaming services Edited yesterday at 06:50 PM by AMRer 8

Cinemas will have to refresh their catalogs as many new movies are coming out. For example, in our country right now, Wicked is no longer showing. Typically, movies are only shown in theaters for ~ 30-40 days here and I guess the similar standards are applicable to other countries as well. January is always a more cost effective month for consumers so it makes sense to push it out on digital knowing cinema crowds are about to drop off and people will find it easier to justify renting digitally vs a trip out. The Fame Monster 3,851 Posted yesterday at 06:54 PM Share Posted yesterday at 06:54 PM You'll be able to rent or buy it from places like Apple TV and YouTube, which is kind of like paying for a movie ticket. For example, in my country, it costs 16.99 euros on Apple TV. Find your freedom in the music 1

I wish it was that cheap here.. although, maybe converting euros to USD maybe it works out similarly, I think it'll be 25$ to rent, and 30$ to buy digitally here in the US.. movie tickets in my area are only like 16$ Edited yesterday at 07:23 PM by Mason

Your method sounds lovely though. 5 hours ago, Bronco said: January is always a more cost effective month for consumers so it makes sense to push it out on digital knowing cinema crowds are about to drop off and people will find it easier to justify renting digitally vs a trip out. Yeah, January is notoriously the stinker drop month for movies. One of the biggest exceptions recently was Scream 5. It's still in theaters after this date. It just feels oddly very soon for SUCH a successful film.
