The number of Liberal MPs (Members of Parliament) calling for Trudeau to resign has bow reached 50! Thats about 1/3 of Government publicly calling for Trudeau to step down

 

Trudeau continues to avoid answering if he will step down or not continuing to say what hes been saying for the last week, that he will "reflect on it".

I think now that he, too, will take his 'Walk In The Snow', like his father did decades ago, and resign after the holidays...

2025 about to be the wildest political year in a while.

I hope Singh resigns too. The NDP (social democrats) are so, so low in the polls. There's no way that HE can bring them back to an acceptable score. He's too linked to Trudeau now because of the deal they had. We need a fresh face and new ideas for the Left. 

Especially since now the Conservatives are leading with what could look like a majority of 230+ MPs, while the majority threshold is 172.. And the official opposition would not be the Liberals, but, as of today, the Bloc Québecois, a Québec-exclusive party !

Our situation would be like, for my UK fellow-people, if the SNP was the official opposition, a few seats ahead of Labour. That'd be wild.

Canada has massively stagnated for the past decade. Not only is the economy not moving forward, housing continues to be a massive issue. It also doesn’t help that the liberal government has let in a ton of immigrants in the past few years when our education, healthcare, and social welfare systems aren’t equipped to handle this.

I just learned there are no term limits for Canadian politicians, including the prime minister.  If Justin Trudeau refuses to resign, can he be impeached?

Agree on the Singh part. He got some good wins but like it’s over for him.

Yes , terms are unlimited , but if the prime minister no longer has support from elected parliament they must leave . And new elections are automatically called .

I think the economy and cost of living crisis is definitely 90% of it

 

Also housing crisis and resentment over letting such a huge number of immigrants in but again that ties back to economic impacts

 

Id say to a lesser extent crumbling healthcare quality is a big one too, but the economy is definitely by far the biggest thing

I think the deal they had also hurt the NDP in the sense that it made the NDP seem oppirtunist, keeping the Liberals in power just so they could keep a degree of power

 

Jagmeet did not want to end the coalition because they know they will get creamed in the next election likely with a Conservative majority but its become so obvious thats the reason they were putting it off and the NDP are looking so bad that Jagmeet has practically been backed into a corner and forced to finally comit to a non confidence vote

Im also gonna add @Shadow that even tho theres no technical limit its extremely rare for a Party or Prime Minister to stay in Power for more than a decade anyway as historically the Liberals and Conservatives switch places every 9-10 years max

 

Trudeau at over 9 years is there for among the longer lasting Prime Ministers

 

only a handful in history (including his father Pierre Trudeau) managed to stay on longer than 10 years...

 

so even tho our laws dont have a limit like the US 8 year limit, we typically dont have a leader last significantly more than that anyway cuz they always get voted out eventually when ppl tire of them

Coalitions always harm the junior partner. It's like the unwritten rule of hung parliaments.

If Justin Trudeau has been serving for 9 years and if his father served 10, it sounds like a little dynasty.
