Obviously MJ clears for me. Smile is very close though and I'm hoping I can make a duet version some time :bradley:

I love that we're slowly getting a couple songs to compare the takes of two of my favorite artists though.

Now I just need Gaga to actually cover an MJ song....hint hint

A Dirty Diana cover would go so hard. A Burn This Disco Out cover though?? I wouldn't recover.

This is my Hannah Montana™️ lipgloss.

There are so many songs she could do so well honestly. My votes would be Give In to Me or Keep the Faith.

If she and Orianthi teamed up for GITM? Like, just put me in the ground immediately after 'cause I'm a corpse :icant:

I know for a fact she's still an obsessed stan. When Chica, Sam, and I went to an LA museum a couple years ago that was meant to have an MJ exhibit they said Gaga came in and bought the whole damn collection :kry:

MJ’s Smile is the best version by far :firega: his voice! Chills!

prefer Gaga’s kooky version of Santa, sounds more fresh

I have a huge respect for MJ musical heritage but I prefer Gaga's theatrality. :haroon:

Just my opinion. :zilla:

I'm here to take a break from university homeworks :/

This is actually very valid 'cause I like MJ's Smile for being more of a classical take and the J5 version of Santa for that old Motown sound :diane:

Michael Jackson carries you

I hate the 90s arragement, much prefer what they did with Gaga it def is a collaboration. But Michael's records are much superiorly produced. It sounds amazing and his singing is out of this world

I'll take Gaga x 2 please. MJ was a genius, but as a singer I think he was a bit squeaky, and I think that's a 12 year old MJ on the Santa Claus version, so very squeaky indeed.

I've never heard anyone call him "squeaky" before :messga:

But yeah, even I don't listen to much of the material before the late 70s. Even MJ isn't immune to child singers being kinda rough to listen to :bear:

The irony that I'm currently listening to "2000 Watts" where he hits his lowest notes on a studio recording (I think)

I have a hot take: I don't love MJ's voice on its own. I love it in his amazing, best-ever-written pop songs. It's perfection in that context. I can listen to Billie Jean or The Man in the Mirror over and over and over. Intoxicating.

But his voice on its own or when does a cover? Like in Smile? It just doesn't do it for me. It's wispy and thin (and also gorgeous, don't get me wrong) - which I never really resonate with. Same reason I love Whitney over Celine or Bette Midler over Barbra Streisand. I like big, bold, brassy voices.

So long story short: Gaga for the win.
