The CEO of UnitedHealth Group said in a leaked internal video that the insurance company will continue to work to prevent "unnecessary" and "unsafe" care that would strain the health care system.

"Our role is a critical role, and we make sure that care is safe, appropriate, and is delivered when people need it," United Health CEO Andrew Witty said in the video address to the company's employees following the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, which was leaked to journalist Ken Klippenstein.

He added that employees should "tune out" criticism of the insurance company, saying that it "does not reflect reality."

Yet this murderer won't be in jail just because he doesn't use a gun.

Literally that's the irony and why I just laugh at people chastising the shooter. They act like they're some self-righteous saviors bot realizing that these CEO's are mass murderers. They just don't pull a trigger or set any explosives off.

The only thing that is unnecessary is the for-profit health insurance industry. Let’s cut that. It’s a completely wasteful, parasitic strain on our healthcare.

These people want you dead and to suffer for capital gains. Never believe anything otherwise.

Luigi was right, “it is not a question of conscience at this moment, but rather it is clearly power games that are at play.”

They know what they’re doing and they have no problem doing it because they can.

he's not a new CEO. he became CEO of UnitedHealth Group in 2021. the man killed was CEO of UnitedHealthcare and was lower in the company's hierarchy than Andrew Witty

I feel like he loses sight of their place in healthcare. Whether a treatment/practice is unnecessary is not his to decide. It's the FDA's, healthcare provider's, and pharmacy's. Where was/is all this talk during the opioid epidemic?

Have I ever received unnecessary care? Well, yes. I had four holes in one of my retinas. Given my young age, it was very likely that it would detach. When? That was harder to say but the ophthalmologist was certain it would. He did a quick laser procedure to close the holes with scar tissue. Made it so that my vision would no longer be in danger and prevented an even costlier SURGERY down the line.

According to my insurance, it wasn’t necessary because technically you can be fine with a hole in your retina. I had FOUR before I was even 27. So yeah. I’ve definitely had “unnecessary care.” 🥴
