Look i fully agree with the critique of the variant pushing shes done this era with all the voice note memo bollocks.

But this "variant" is essentially the physical release of the 2nd album (TTPD is basically a double album) that's been digital only up until now.

It's not really comparable to the scummy tricks they have pulled with all the digital only variants with 1 new track.

I agree. People are definitely overlooking the fact that this is a physical release of an entire album's worth of songs that were previously exclusively available on digital platforms.

There was no way that it wasn't going to sell.

It feels yucky that she would wait until she’s milked the album to the bitter end to release this though.

It’s so clearly an unmasked opportunity to take advantage of everyone who’s bought prior, and prop up her sales.

Her sales tactics are cunning, but they’re quite gross.

When Taylormania dies down, it will be interesting to see the advantages she’s taken on her fans, and what was propped up by her business tactics.

Maybe it's really getting to me this time because I live in Vancouver and our city is neck deep in Swiftie promotional overload for the last 3 Eras Tour shows. But I'm beyond f*cking sick of her.

era's tour been and gone where i live and my work still has so much "into the taylor-verse" bollocks all around the store that nobody is buying

mother, what must i do?

I mean any of the sociopaths who bought every single variant to get that 1 extra song even though there's a high profile Swiftie twitter account that puts them online for free (god knows how it doesnt get nuked) has only themselves to blame in my eyes.

Yes her business tactics are scummy. But honestly its 2024, if people's own common sense & media literacy is so low they fall for it. Its just Swiftie Darwinism in my eyes lol

For me personally, i was happy to buy this specific variant because its relatively cheap for a 4disc LP & because the anthology had way more tracks I enjoyed than the standard TTPD. And physical always trumps digital.

As for waiting for Swiftie mania to die down. I think this specific variant is a good judge of that - if you think she's hit 1mil for the last few releases using on avg 4 variants of vinyl/CD & sometimes casette. This occasion with only 1 variant of the anthology (and the general sale version is identical to the target one) on CD & Vinyl has managed 40% of her usual debut physical unit sale. I'd be willing to put a bet on that being her "stable" demographic.

It is not yucky. We (people who actually like her) love her for this. The more variants the better. If only Gaga gave us this much content, what a good world that would be. Taylor does not take advantage of anyone, it is a privilege to be able to listen to her music, as it is next level and totally amazing. It heals the soul.

I genuinely can’t tell if this is satire or not. Which is sad and just goes to show how deranged her fan base is

she used fomo as a marketing strategy again - this album was announced as a Target exclusive, and even some big fan accounts tweeted that it would be available in limited quantities
TTPD.png

so her fans ran to buy it because they believed it might not be available again, which was not true because it will be available in stores worldwide on December 6

expected to sell out quickly, how in character of her

The reason it got a boost now is because physicals of The Anthology were finally released.

The music just isnt for you and I, no need to be calling people "deranged".

Taylor Swift is one of the most popular artists worldwide and one of the highest selling of all time and thats a fact. She has an amazing marketing team too.
