Lastly i agree neverthless ppl shouldnt be rude... but u can not expect a huge star not to be critically debated. If they can be praised to no end and make over $1B (which imo no one in a fair world should even be that rich), then you should also be willing to take mild criticism from ppl that think ur over rated

 

No one here is calling her names, making threats or anything serious like that. Some of us simply think shes simply over rated and I hardly think its going too far to express that. Im sorry but debate like that comes in entertainment. You cant ONLY get cult level adoration from everyone

I know rudeness and disrespectful are far away from hate, but you know that thin line is crossed lots of times here. And depending the artist we talk about that may seem funny, but I would not step back, there's comments in here that are thrown to express hate and trying to hurt

She doesn't need to be a good dancer. Katy, Kesha, Rihanna, Sabrina can't dance either. She has her own performance style which clearly captivates audiences, seeing her touring stats.

Honestly Kylie is one of the most popular gay icons going and girl can't dance even by her own admission. She's mastered the "move arms slightly while dancers do choreo so it looks the same" method lol

I also think you dont have to be a good dancer necessairily to be worth whatching. Or a Whitney Huston level vocalist to be worth whatching

 

But the overall package..m Taylor is literally beating all of Madonnas records. Commercially speaking at least Taylor is becoming the most successful female artist of all time

 

Is she THAT good to deserve such an honorary status? I think thats what some of us mean when we say shes over rated. Its not that shes a bad artist. But youd think she was next level in everything meanwhile its more like shes good at marketing

 

Sabrina, Katy Perry, Kesha or even Rihanna that you listed as examples have not reached the level Taylor has in terms of Hot 100 hits, awards, cult following and in terms critical acclaim Taylor definitely far surpasses any of ur examples.

 

I dont have an overall problem with Taylor per say. I even like a lot of her music and music videos. But I also do think the sheer level of mania is exagerated relative to her talent and that shes only as big as she is because shes a genius at marketing and is a really pretty blond chick.

 

I realize its an opinon not a hard fact. But its definitely a strong opinion I have many here share. To be clear I do not however condone comments that go as far as abusive speech mind u such as we were discussing @AMRer tho it depends on ur tone.

Folklore and Evermore are her mainline projects as well. They are not some side-projects like Harlequin. So the user was right. She released ANOTHER album in her "mainline" or whatever you called it in 2022.

The stats of Madonna are from mainly the US and half of Europe during her peak because of how the world functioned with legal music and piracy and lack of the IFPI. Taylor's come from the streaming era where every unit and sale is counted legally from every part of the world. To claim she's "beating" Madonna's records is stupid. Look at Madonna's stats in Individual countries worldwide and you'll come to find out that she's not even beating Gaga's peak, let alone Madonna's. The only place she's beating Madonna is the US. Her lack of performance skills and lack of an "overall package" is what's PROHIBITING her from beating Madonna. Madonna at her 10th album was at 300M in sales while Taylor is at her 11th and still has like 100M in units to go. 

To beat Madonna she'd have to be as popular as she is now for another decade but she'll be 40+ when that happens and pop stars are not that big anymore when they reach that age.

They're not a side project in the sense of Harlequin.

But they were a side project in the sense that they weren't planned albums. And without the pandemic they would never have come into being and she likely would have never written in that style. 

If the Lover era went as planned then the time gap between it and Midnights is likely the length of time we'd have gone before a new album & the TVs coming into existence.

Lover & Midnight were planned out eras and considering Lover was originally going to be titled Daylight you can see the thread between it & Midnights.

Target exclusivity in the US this week/Taylor Swift website exclusive international for Black Friday.

Other record stores all offering pre-orders for the 6th. So album will probably chart for 2 weeks as a result.
