Do you mean the clout chasing crazy people that were shunned by the common sense political party and found a home among the pedophiles, creationists, and anti-vaxxers? :selena:

i don’t really know who could win. The current republican party is basically center right. the democrats have been getting more and more left. The democrats need a moderate type of energy.

This is simply not true. Our republican party is far right and our democrats are center right. Bernie is probably our farthest left figure and in the EU he'd be moderate left. The Overton window is kicking y'all's a**.

This is my Hannah Montana™️ lipgloss.

Kamala's loss comes at a time where incumbency is an enormous weakness. The fact that she only lost by less than 2% is a testament to how good of a campaign she ran.

Also, Trump has gotten worse and it translated into him getting fewer votes this year than he did in 2020.

Do you know the only thing that polled as less popular than Project 2025 for voters this year? Socialism :laughga:

Bernie, the self titled socialist, couldn't even win a primary where only Democrats are voting. He would have never stood a chance in a general election and the first thing he did after Trump won was throw mud on Democrats despite the fact that he has to rely on Democrats' relevancy and power to have a legislative voice period. As I said, his place, along with other leftists, is in congress where they can push progressive legislation and controls the national budget.

The president needs to be a true moderate (so, about as far left as Biden which is already pretty progressive thanks to people like AOC pushing his policies there).

I also can't lie, I'm basing this on how unreliable leftist voters are. Politicians will always go where the votes are and if the left organized and moved out instead of protesting the candidates their ideals more closely align with maybe they'd be a reliable block of people to cater to. But they're not :rip: so Kamala had to chase centrists and pray enough Republicans defected.

The fact that leftists and even Democratic voters didn't turn up to beat Trump is more of a failing on their part, not Kamala's tbh.

Well no, to this entire post:

Mexico couldn’t relate to the incumbency trend bc AMLO actually delivered for his citizens so hard they elected a jewish woman in a catholic nation.

That bc he governed as anything but a moderate and brought the big change people wanted from their leaders to save them from COVID. Change aka what so many people clearly said they wanted

Primary voters and general election voters are night and day and need to stop being compared. It’s blue dog dems vs. swayable independents who are clearly weary of politicians promising small changes bc there is no trust.

”Socialism polls badly” is a wild statement. How do you not know that word is basically a rorschach test? You know what is actually passing in red states? Bernie’s “socialist” living wage and paid family leave.

Biden and Kamala have so much blame here but are you ready for that tea someone to wake tea up :hor:

I feel like I’m crazy because why are y’all like “We need a centrist Dem to win”?? :selena: Girl, Kamala’s whole campaign towards the end was about embracing moderate Republicans and she lost. Her campaign was at its best and most energetic when she looked like she was pushing more progressive policies. Trump has only gotten more extreme and vitriolic and he WON. I’m not saying that AOC would win, but I think Dems desperately need their “version” of Trump. Bernie was that for a bit, but he was pushed out by the centrist Dems.

it's too soon for AOC I think.

First, she codes as VERY young and a lot of ppl wont take her seriously sadly

Second, the dems lost with two women nominees, they are not going to consider pushing another woman as their candidate for a long while (sadly).

Thirdly, I dont want AOC to waste her shot at running. It's guaranteed any woman who runs in 2028 will lose imo and the dems do indeed have a young man issue. They need a populist man for 2028 imo. AOC is only in her mid 30s...she has A LOT of time to build credentials and when she is in her mid 40s she can run and probably have a real shot at winning. Candidates usually only run once or twice if they fail once. I dont want her to waste her shot.

A woman can win if people feel like they can truly relate to her. Democrats are chasing the female vote. And rightfully so, because women are way more likely to vote. But they need to appeal to men somehow. And "your wife's rights" is unfortunately not gonna do it.

Nothing about Trump is really about policy though. People felt heard. Democrats want another Obama, hence their campaign strategy for Kamala. It does not hit the same though because Obama was not considered a career politician at the time, he was a nobody.

Meh, I disagree.

The fact that the left continues to lose one national election after another should shake some sense into people wanting presidential candidates to move even farther to the left on the campaign trail but it hasn't :laughga:

Leftists are great on district wide scales. We absolutely need to run the numbers up in congress and the senate. I mean, we're sending a progressive trans congresswoman to DC for the first time ever. That's huge. We have a whole "Squad" there making waves and setting the ground for a huge push later on in our lifetimes.

And I've already said something to the effect of "Trump is popular, his policies are not". The opposite goes for people like Bernie who enjoys popularity in Vermont but would be destroyed in a national election despite the fact that his policies are popular.

Americans don't vote on policy, they vote on perception. Kamala's policies were massively popular but she still lost 'cause the perception of the Biden administration is a poor one despite massive wins for progressive movements in healthcare, labor rights, and civil rights.

Biden's presidency has been a good one, Kamala's presidency would have been an improvement over it too, but that's just not how the American electorate thinks.

Need proof? You guys are ready to crucify Harris for leaning moderate/right but guess what line of attack worked on her for independents and Republicans who may have defected from Trump? Calling her a socialist. Her past as a California progressive. Her run in 2019 where she leaned heavily into the left wing movement of the moment. That final ad released by the Trump campaign where she openly admits to wanting prisoners to have access to gender affirming care.

"Socialism polls poorly". Meaning the word itself and the perception Americans have of it are unpopular. Bernie already nailed his own casket shut by labeling himself a "Democratic socialist".

Americans like progressive policies but they do not like progressive people. We are a nation of contradictory idiots and we have to live with that reality, unfortunately.

Idk what left losing national elections youre referencing bc Hillary punching left lost her the general, Biden and Obama embracing the left won them the general, and Kamala flip flopping and not explaining it well, cost her a lot of good will and trust.

and idek where you have this “Bernie is over” take when he’s consistently polled as the most liked or one of the most liked politicians in America - bc he stands on business. “A democratic socialist” is a tired sound bite and not a vision - he clearly has one and idk why youre acting like he doesn’t.

An anti trans “for they, not for you” ad wouldn’t stick on him bc people trust he’s serious about delivering. Kamala? Definitely not as much.

and yes I will whack Kamala for running to liz cheney and bragging about appointing republicans to her cabinet bc yet again, texting right fails to get moderate republicans bc why chose a cheap copy when they have the real thing? All that predictably did was depress dem turn out.

and Biden’s presidency… it was just clearly rejected by America. Calling it good is such cope. He did a lot of good things but erased them by doing a lot of bad. America clearly said NO to inflation bc Biden failed to whip votes to serve Mexican excellence… and now Trump 2024.

Idk who the next standard barer for the party is, but the bench looks dastardly apart from maybe Whitmer or Beshear.

Or maybe boring career politicians are over now

She’s gonna be a Senator before anything.

This country isn’t ready for AOC but someday they will be, I hope.

I know this will break a lot of liberal minds but Dems need a celebrity. Hold y’all’s noses and turn to hollywood to find a serious celebrity who has charm, can enchant people with their voice, and speak to the ills and offer a better narrative/solution.

Jon Stewart would eat ngl.

I’m sorry but Trump ruined career politicians forever and even Obama did to a certain extent - but he had that x factor.

Lib’s career politicians are not gonna have the vision nor built in trust to carry Dems to a pro-dem victory so yall can kiss two term presidencies goodbye until that clicks

but yeah I think AOC has potential but isn’t ready yet. She’s building her brand now in a better lane but she needs to not move any further right or she’ll risk becoming another Pelosi - former progressive turned do-nothing-dem who wont save america

Newsom President with AOC VP would get my vote for sure :vegas: or flipped.

Excited for both of them to bring hell upon the Republicans.

I mean, we're just gonna have to agree to disagree tbh.

I don't care for leftists nor do I think bending to their flimsy whims is a good idea. Both Obama and Biden won after disasterous Republican presidencies and did progressive things after they won.

The fact that the left views both as villains now kinda says a lot.

And I'm not "coping" by calling Biden's presidency a good one 'cause it objectively is/was. Expanding healthcare access alone, building off the ACA, and giving Medicare the ability to negotiate drug prices is huge and if Trump isn't able to tear it up, that'll directly benefit me and my loved ones personally.

Hmm.. I like her, but I don't think if people thought that Kamala was too left that AOC would stand a chance right now, unless something major changed in the next couple years.. I would support her though.

I'd like to see Pete Buttigieg give it another another go personally.

She'd be inspiring. And we would know where she truly stands while listening to her go on a press tour. She's everything I'd want in a president. Especially her path from bartender to one of the most powerful people in the world would be baller.
