Teletubby 150,305
Walt Disney Animation’s “Moana 2” continued on its record-shattering path, earning a massive $28 million on Thanksgiving from 4,200 locations. The animated sequel is on track to gross at least $175 million over the five-day holiday week. Estimated 2-day total domestic gross stands at $85.50M. Coupled with $24.1m from 39 international markets, the sequel holds a global total of $109.6M. “Moana 2” isn’t the only movie fueling a box office resurgence. Universal’s “Wicked” and Paramount’s “Gladiator II,” both of which opened last weekend, are continuing to draw crowds, earning $16.9 million and $6.7 million on Thanksgiving. “Wicked,” an adaptation of a popular Broadway musical, is projected to gross $105.6 million over the five-day holiday. By the end of the holiday, “Wicked” should have racked up $250.6 million domestically. Moana 2 has been met with lukewarm reviews from critics - and the Rotten Tomatoes score for the sequel (65%) is much lower than the original (95%). https://variety.com/2024/film/news/thanksgiving-box-office-moana-2-breaks-holiday-records-wicked-1236230809/ Edited November 29, 2024 by Teletubby "You b*tch!" ~ Rat Boy 1

I don't think it's The Rock's star power more so than it is the Moana brand; it's extremely popular with families. I don't think The Rock being in it helped or hurt it. RAMROD 109,772
Black Friday typically is one of the highest-grossing box office days on the calendar, but this year it’s coursing to an all-time record with around $107M+ for all movies, led by Disney’s Moana 2. Friday also has a shot at being the highest-grossing day of 2024 to date, outstripping the $118.3M on Friday, July 26, when Deadpool & Wolverine led with to an R-rated opening-day and -weekend record ($96.1M, $211.4M). There’s such a frenzy for Moana 2, Universal’s Wicked and Paramount’s Gladiator II tickets that AMC at one point time this morning was experiencing a 13-minute wait time. That’s a rich-man’s problem for the No. 1 exhibitor. The circuit has the situation under control, I’m told. Per Comscore, Friday easily will exceed the previous Black Friday record of $85M, which was back in 2013 when Lionsgate’s The Hunger Games: Catching Fire was the No. 1 title over the Wednesday-Sunday Thanksgiving period. Moana 2 is expected to do at least $55M, which would make it a Black Friday record for the No. 1-grossing film, above Frozen II‘s $34.1M back in 2019. Wicked is on course to do $27M Friday, while Paramount’s Gladiator IIis eyeing at $12.6M. Moana 2 already is blowing away the Frozen II $125M 5-day record over Thanksgiving and could do $200M+. Wicked is looking at the fourth best take over the holiday frame with $105.6M while Gladiator II is looking at $45M. https://deadline.com/2024/11/moana-2-wicked-black-friday-record-amc-1236190007/ (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ✧*:・゚ dancin' until i'm dead (*´艸`*) ♡♡♡
