It's not Rock in Rio, it's a free concert in Copacabana to stimulate tourism and fuel the local economy  I think Madonna's show was 10 million from the city and the rest (the majority) was paid by Itaú (a big bank) and Heineken.

No shade at all but at the moment biggest Lady Gaga's haters are her own fans. Some of you all are trully pushing her biggest OGH attitude in the last couple months. And that should be the real worry at the moment.

OT : Apart a sub part of Madonna's fans, anyone will be hyped for the event. And tbh a lotof Madonna fans  actually like Gaga and probably won't give a F she's performing this year. I have some Madonna fans as friends and they are very cool with Gaga and appreciate her.

It's gonna be huge but I wouldn't get my hopes up on her breaking Madonna's record. Here, Madonna is adored for her older work, lots of people LOVE 80s music, they call it "flashback" and Madonna is kind of more respected than Gaga here. 30+ yo gays almost always prefer Madonna. Gaga is huge among younger people, but older generations still view her as the crazy pop star who doesn't have any talent. Today I told some colleagues that I canceled my trip to Rio this Christmas to save money but now I'll have to spend to go in May for Gaga and they looked at me kind of weird, like, "for her? ". Not to rain on our own parade, but I think we should lower our expectations regarding the audience numbers. It's gonna be huge, but... there's this context.

Edit: now that I'm thinking about it, everytime I say I'm a fan of Gaga I have been met with a weird reaction. Some weeks ago another colleague was BAFFLED that I'm a Gaga fan, he was like "Gaga???? Why???? She doesn't sing, no, why do you like her? I'm shocked". And then he commented AGAIN some hours later "sooo, Lady Gaga, huh? I'm surprised" with a smirk tone. It's very weird, lots of people are still sleeping on her.

I’m sorry but where exactly did you read hate for Gaga in my reply? I only stated that some vile Madonna fans are annoying with their 12+ year accusing when it’s desperate and redundant? Actually I’m always defending Gaga when it comes to this topic???
