Idc if this is petty, but I hope they get EVERYTHING that they voted for.

I am prepared to pay the price if it means they suffer.

I think this is the wrong attitude. Abandoning what you believe in just so other people suffer is not the way forward.

Low information voters who didn't know what tariffs are (or how they work) who voted for him because they thought things would get cheaper are now seemingly beginning to realize the consequences of that decision. And even though it impacts me and I shouldn't be, it is making me feel kinda vindicated in how stupid they must feel.

I’m not abandoning what I believe in. I am watching voters get what they wanted.

I understand. But the undercurrent of wanting people to suffer because they may not have understood what they wanted because of lack of education is gross to me.

Let's focus on getting people education and more opportunity. Wanting people to suffer isn't a strategy. Introspection is a strategy.

There was a woman who is very prominent who I won't name who is a democratic party operative. When Trump won, she sent out a wishlist of who she wanted to be deported because they didn't support her side. You know what I'm getting at? We can't claim to believe in something and then want the same people we ostensibly fight for to suffer if they don't capitulate. Because again, that isn't a strategy--nor will it change anyone's minds.

Its not a lack of education. Its a lack of Googling a word. Seeing the word 'suffer' in reference to paying more for an avocado is kinda silly though.

We tried education. People don’t care. They only care about how they FEEL about how much their dollar stretches, regardless of the facts or logic.

People didn’t care about electing a felon. People didn’t care about him inciting an insurrection to overturn an election. People didn’t care about the dehumanizing rhetoric he spewed for YEARS.

It’s not 2016. This is the THIRD time many people voted for him.

it affects both ways... you should do a better research (100% not being shady)

Tariffs disproportionately impact importers and consumers. Sure, they have a marginal effect on exporters because they may have to cut prices to remain competitive (not necessarily though, depending upon how much the importer relies on the exporter for the particular good). So, imo, if the goal was to “teach Mexico a lesson” there are probably more direct ways to do that that don’t have disproportionate downstream effects on consumers in the US domestic economy (also there’s virtually no correlation between Mexican commercial imports and drug cartels, so the whole explanation feels pretty ad hoc at best).
