If this does well and if the film does well it just goes to show our “people just don’t like musicals” excuse for JFAD isn’t valid anymore considering this is like a MUSICAL musical :rip:

Most people enjoy musicals, just not the bad ones :ladyhaha:

If you see me posting like crazy, I'm either bored or procrastinating.

The issue is the Joker Targeted audience dont like musicals, while Wicked is targeted towards an audience that will love a musical. Not to mention everyone going the Wicked are expecting a musical.

Wicked is good movie and it will do well. I think the issue is that Joker was doing a musical to established Joker fans who probably hate the idea of a musicals before they even watched. They also kinda duped people into thinking it wasn't one and trying to minimize the musical part from its full potential.

But I do think if Wicked does well and since it so soon after Joker it might lessen the hate big time. People won't be able to make those musical comments any more because they will realize musicals does not automatically mean bad. Especially because I keep seeing tik toks of girls bf secretly loving Wicked.

:messga: Mika was so amazing, I wish his work had longevity. I think he had a bigger impact than people realize. Alos queer icon, I believe a lot of his fall was because of homophobia. (He's bi, I think).

Tbf he's got a very successful career in Europe. And a lot of his decline in English speaking markets lines up with him starting to put out albums in French.

Ariana Grande's 'Popular' Gets Nationwide Radio Debut

https://www.iheart.com/alternate/amp/2024-11-22-ariana-grandes-popular-gets-nationwide-radio-debut/

Wicked is finally in theaters and in addition to seeing Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo as Glinda and Elphaba on the big screen, they can hear the official Wickedsoundtrack, which has been released and includes Grande's version of "Popular."

The Wicked soundtrack showcases all the songs from part one of Wicked soundtrack, which includes "Defying Gravity," "The Wizard and I" and more, featuring the cast — Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo, Jeff Goldblum, Peter Dinklage, Michelle Yeoh, Ethan Slater and Jonathan Bailey.

As "Popular" made its radio debut across iHeartRadio stations across the country, Grande and Erivo sat down with iHeartRadio's JoJo Wright to talk about the film, and they both talked about their on-screen and off-screen chemistry as co-stars and friends. As Ariana put it, "I get her. She gets me. Every instant of this felt so honest and just beautiful and supportive."

Joker wasn’t enough of a musical for people who like musicals to like it. And it wasn’t enough of a superhero movie for superhero fans. There wasn’t enough Gaga for Gaga fans. That movie was for no one. Lol
