Turn it off or put up with it. There were people who felt the same way when Gaga was at her commercial peak. I felt the same way during the mumble rap wave. But I'm not going to say that mumble rappers should stop releasing music or compare them to Trump, because other people clearly like it. "Put up with it" so we do have to listen to it, right? Sure people felt the same way about Gaga but she's never released more than 2 albums in 2 years. In the past 2 years it's been Speak Now TV, Fearless TV, Midnights, TTPD, TTPD Anthology or whatever it's called, and then her 30 re-releases of TTPD with exclusive tracks. Plus whatever is coming in the next month or so. You're acting like voicing displeasure at her releasing again will change her mind and hurt her feelings when it's people on a website she'll never read voicing their opinions as part of a forum. No, I just think it's a little childish to spend so much time complaining about somebody you don't like. You can turn a radio off, or turn it onto a different station. I don't complain that there's food I dislike on the shelf in the supermarket, I buy what I do like and go about my day, leaving the food I dislike for people who do like it. It's not that I think it'll hurt her feelings, she's a billionaire and she's done her share of things that I don't like, but I just find it odd that she's the only artist who receives complaints for releasing music, which is, you know, her job. 2 2

I thought this was a forum and we were discussing, which is the whole point of a forum no? But we're gonna call it childish because we don't agree? Like I said, it plays at stores constantly. I can't turn it off or change the station at that point. It also plays in other settings where I have no control over it. Your analogy about food at the store would be more accurate if the food was constantly cooked around you and you hated the smell of it. Would you not complain if you constantly had to smell it? The Tortured Poets Department has a higher Metacritic score than many of her earlier albums, including Fearless, Debut and Reputation. Midnights' score is even higher. I'd argue these albums are just more polarising than her past work. I for example, love The Tortured Poets Department, whilst a lot of people seem to dislike it strongly. It's far from widely panned or hated, and was in fact better received than many other positively viewed albums. Ok but we *also know that people generally go easier on stars of her caliber these days bc of fans so I don’t think metacritic is necessarily all that helpful. I don’t think the albums are more polarizing I think they’re more forgettable. Aside from anti hero, midnights is a skip imo. Ttpd I literally turned off I found it so bad. But I can still throw on folklore, speak now, etc. and it’s great. To be clear, I’m not nostalgic for her as I was never a stan I’m just saying I think the broader opinion on her latest albums is that they’re a little less baked than past ones not that they’re polarizing. I’m glad you love it though! I’m just saying it wouldn’t hurt for her to take a beat and let the artistry cook a little longer instead of trying to be in a pop star’s rat race as a singer-songwriter. I feel like her best stuff comes when she steps out of the public for a second and isn’t so perceived

I think 90% of the people "talking and discussing" about Taylor in this forum are just throwing hate comments that have nothing to do with a discussion, and complaining about her seems to be a trendy thing, so don't play the offended card. Is it that dramatic that you hear her songs at the stores? If it is, it's not that you simply don't like, you hate her. And if that's the case ask yourself why because I might not like a lot of artists but nobody's song irritates me 1

matteonster 437
Haters on this forum are gonna hate. Of course, feel free to share your opinion, everyone’s allowed to. But it’s sad to see how some people just obsessively throw “omg not her again” or “she’s so overrated yet mediocre”, “she’s so annoying” sentences and then call it a discussion. She’s a musician who makes music and releases a lot of her stuff recently, while having fun on the tour. It generates demand / interest along the way which then leads businesses to play her stuff more often. Indeed she’s so terrible for it “Don't you ever let a soul in the world tell you that you can't be exactly who you are.”

Lets be real though - her main radio hits are all legacy singles that were popular then and maintained popularity since. So like are we angry that mainstream radio plays mainstream music and that public places play mainstream music from mainstream radio as background noise? Or are we angry that a singer-songwriter cares about making music and her existing music and puts out material regularly (at a standard comparable rate to how the music industry operated pre-streaming)? 1
Alfonso 1,402
On one side, I would say, any new music is always welcomed! On the other I feel like these releases don't have any breathing room or excitement behind them. It feels like too much. TTPD has some songs I love but it was way too long. I wish Taylor would've focused on the rereleases and left the new album for after the eras tour. I'm still mad my show was cancelled and she didn't even care to reschedule.
