Grateful for my amazing bf and my 2 wonderful grandfathers :firega:Most of the other men in my life have unfortunately been letdowns but let me try and be open minded for today.

Thank you to all the good men. The devoted dads, doctors, builders, scientists, veterans, firefighters, teachers, drivers, bin men and many more. :applause:

@allanrocks I'd appreciate if you respectfully removed that lmao reaction considering I put a bit of my SA survivor story in the OP

I’m very sorry for what you have been thru, but the idea of a day celebrating men sounds pathetic for me. And the fact that I was issued a warning because of that is beyond ridiculous.

Why?

Because men are literally responsible for almost every war in humankind?? Because men don’t face systemic oppression??

What’s next? A holiday for celebrating white people? Please

I see with my little nephew he doesn’t get the same empowering messaging that my niece does. Little boys need to feel proud of themselves too, like they can do and be anything.

Low key agree. Like we don't need a special day to challenge the negative stereotypes that MEN have set for THEMSELVES. We also don't need a special to recognise their societal impact because  it goes without saying.

I'm a man too and even though I empathise with OP and don't have a problem with people who genuinely choose to recognise this day, i feel like not only does this day create a breeding ground for underlying misogynistic trops to thrive but it is also an opportunity for some men to gaslight and victimise themselves.

Men are victims of patriarchy too and there is a mental health gap that needs to be addressed. “The suicide rate among males in 2022 was approximately four times higher than the rate among females. Males make up 50% of the population but nearly 80% of suicides.”

Good male role models should be celebrated. Teaching boys that they are intrinsically violent because of their sex and cutting them off from their emotional development clearly has not worked out for anybody.

So POC and LGBTQ+ men don’t face systemic oppression? :smh:

For every men who started a war there was a woman or women who supported them, from a partner to a follower, I mean, women voted for Trump, for Putin, for Netanyahu.

So sploosh your juice all over me you Riverboy

Its a talking point and a conversation starter for topics that don't get much attention the rest of the year. Nobody is asking for it to be a federal holiday

You deserved it. You are basically discriminating against someone based on their gender. Get out of your echo chamber and get educated on gender issues. Issues for men and women are different but equally serious.

Based on your other comments: Let's hate on all men because 1% of them started most wars. Get real dude.

That's due to racism and homophobia not because of their sex. Let's be clear, these are separate issues.

Where have I said that?

Ofc I wouldn’t oppose a day for celebrating POC and LGBTQ people. I just oppose the idea of a holiday to celebrate men.

Why do I deserve to be flagged for opposing the idea of a holiday to celebrate men? Why telling me I should get educated when you don’t even know me? Honestly go touch some grass.

So there are no POC or LGBTQ men? You are contradicting yourself.
