Not one to usually complain about sh*t like this, but I’m wondering if we could start a megathread for all these Trump stories?

Trump’s last presidency was pretty terrible for my mental health the first time around, and this time I’m trying to make a strong effort to avoid a similar spiral by disconnecting from the constant news updates. I haven’t gone to a single news site since election night but I’m aware of every new appointment made by Trump in live time thanks to the thread titles alone on here.

I know I’m not the only one here in this predicament, otherwise I’d just log off lol.

Would love to know the mods thoughts on this

I think at least for now it'd make sense to have a megathread rather than individual threads for every single cabinet appointment coming between now & January.  That way those of us interested in the topic aren't overloading the shortcuts on the side with multiple threads about each individual cabinet monstrosity

These dumb fcks talk about “DEI” and “Affirmative action” and “we shouldn’t pick people for jobs based on the color of their skin.” Yet here they are giving highly important jobs to completely unfit and unqualified incompetent morons. 
 

It’s one thing for Donald to give the incompetent Donald Jr. and Eric a job in his own company. But when it’s something that involves the entire nation, please don’t just give these titles based on who kissed your ass the hardest.

Welp. I'm glad my girls got their two month vaccinations Monday and we should get the four month ones before he's approved. Let me make sure I"m up to date on everything so they can have my antibodies.

Seriously, I wonder if he can actually get all of them through the senate. (Or how many.) If most or all of them go through, if the self-proclaimed „holy“ checks and balances of the US fail there as well, the US is COOKED. And the repercussions of this election for the whole world are beyond what we can comprehend. Scary times are coming.

Imagine it. Your daughters going to school with kids who haven't been vaccinated against polio, measles, dengue, hepatitis, etc.

All of this after the CDC is gutted.

Hell, they're planning on destroying the department of education too so zero standards there either.

Eating food that has been passed through an unregulated and powerless FDA that's even more beholden to the whims of corporations and billionaires than they already are.

Potentially being rejected from health insurance coverage 'cause they're absolutely going after the ACA again which over 100 million Americans rely on for insurance.

You and I both living in states that are frequently hit by hurricanes. With the EPA being at risk and climate change going unaddressed. NOAA's existence (or integrity at least) is at risk too so we may not even see the storms coming. And when they do hit, Republicans have shown a massive unwillingness to properly fund FEMA and emergency response programs.

The consequences of this election are actually insane to think about.

At one point in Trump's presidency over a thousand Americans were dying every day directly due to his negligence and idiocy. Over a million deaths through a year and a half in total and hundreds of thousands more after he left office.

We could see that again but this time there's no pandemic to blame. Just him, his policies, and the destruction of programs we depend on for health and survival.

Lemme go back to work and keep mentally writing my little sci-fi story as a distraction
