Oh Morphine Prince has money honey! :vegas:

I don't have have a lot of money :air: but I'm definitely middle class and could afford to pay a bit more when tariffs are in place. Many people cannot. Of course that can change at any moment... which is why we have to ensure everyone feels safe, but I digress.

I dont understand much about economy, so can someone convince why its a bad idea?

Yes it will raise prices short term, but long term, it will force companies to use American good and keep money domestically.

You claim to be superior to Trump voters because you fight for others, yet at the same time you said you will enjoy seeing the whole country burn under Trump.

You only want to see others do good if they agree with you, and come to the same conclusions as you, so how are you superior to Trump voters?

I am just going to watch people getting what they voted for. There is only so much that can be done for a population that falls for misinformation.

I know for a fact Republican policies aren't helping the working class in the long run, so yes, I am superior than them for wanting things like universal healthcare, affordable education, childcare, and an expansion of social services

You really know how to twist other people’s words, huh?

Make an argument instead of telling me im twisting other peoples words, or atleast try to explain how im twisting their words.

But are you aware that they dont think these things (universal healthcare, affordable education, childcare, and an expansion of social services) will help other people? Do you think they are against these things simply because they are selfish?

You ended your statement saying that he wants people to suffer because they disagree with him (something that he never said nor did he even imply in his original post).

I feel like my comment on this won't be welcomed but I'm still going to share. I heard that ad from Kamala's campaign during the election. I'm so shocked this is her campaign ad.

Right now, China exports cheap products to the world because they have cheap labor. People living under poverty line working hard for their government. You know that is not what democracy looks like. No other countries can compete with the price of their products. The minimum wages in more developed countries are simply too high. The costs to make the products are higher so the prices on the market are more expensive. And because of that, US is giving China money to buy those products. Domestic products cannot compete. This eventually causes Chinese economy to thrive and American economy to wither which happened in the last decade or two.

Raising the tariff nullify the competitiveness of the Chinese products as it will reflect on the price of these products. Yes, those foreign made products will become more expensive which is why they do this so that American people will buy more domestic products which will then keep the money in the US, creating more job opportunities and keeping the companies and production lines in the US. We want to keep the companies here so job opportunities will be here. There was a trend of US companies leaving the US (not sure how it is now). This policy is trying to stop that. There may be an increase in day to day products but this will create more jobs and increase wages. With the increase in the salary, you will be able to afford those products instead of giving those money to China which actually supports their authoritarian regime.

Trump also said that he intends to support the US gas industry which may actually help decrease prices of day to day products. I do understand people hate Trump and Democrats are better with social issues but on this policy, I think Trump's policy is beneficial for Americans. Please don't come for me.

The thing is, the US isn't manufacturing a lot of these things and the labor costs associated with doing so will just push companies to move to other countries.

I brought up Steve Madden because they are already moving out of China and NOT into the US.

In this global economy with so many options, this whole protectionist policy is more difficult to carry out.

Yes. Many people even now don't want their taxes paying for other people. This is straight from their mouths.

A lot of Americans only care about things that will benefit THEM in the short term. Which is why you had measures passed in red states this week regarding overtime pay, etc.

But nobody thinks long term because they're short sighted and selfish. I have seen and heard these people all my life.

Yeah but have you ever considered that it’s really mean to make fun of stupid people for making dumb electoral decisions? :crossed:

I mean, I'll watch it burn. I'll cheer on the Republicans. This is what's apparently popular and what most people want. Let democracy reign!

Fighting for marginalized groups and taking pleasure seeing ignorant people get their just desserts are not mutually exclusive. I want to see everyone do well, but that ship has likely sailed with Trump returning to power. However, the schadenfreude is a consolation prize to a future we didn’t even want to happen in the first place.

They said: will just enjoy if things burn. Especially now that he actually won the popular vote, well, you get what you voted for.

I think they dont want their taxes going to failed programs that wont benefit Americans. They believe there are other ways to benefit society than free socialist programs. Im not saying they are right, all im saying is they are like us, they care about others, but with different conclusions.

Just my opinion and how i see things, we dont need to debate this if you dont want to.
